Recently moved house and have a small dilemma.
In my new lounge I have a router in one corner and the tv in another, at the far end. Moving either is not possible.
At the tv end I have a little box that needs an internet connection to run (no wifi option).
I dont want to have to run a cable the whole length of the room if I dont have to.
I have been told I can send the internet signal through the plugs with some gadget. Can anyone recommend or advise? How would this work?

what's the little box
they are call powerline adapters
A wireless extender with ethernet bridge is neater and cheaper if you really can't move the router and put a wire under the carpet

Powerline adaptors, or Homeplugs, is what they are known as. I got a set of TP-Link adaptors to connect my Youview box (one side of the room) to the router (other side).0

Its a 'sky box'
TP Link looks to be the very thing I need! Many thanks!!0 -

internet connection?? - you mean a rj45 connection or a basic phone line as this would define what you need to do.
If its a rj45 then yes a powerline/homeplug is what you need you get 2 plug one into the plug by the router the other by the TV and use a network cable to connect the homeplug to router homeplug to little box.
Home plugs are great I have 4 in my place as wifi signal even with a range extender didn't work.0 -
You can actually get a wifi adaptor for a Sky box ... my brother has (had) one. But I find the powerline adaptor works well for not a lot of money.
Obviously a cable is the cheapest option, but SWMBO would never allow it. (We have laminate flooring, not carpets, so not so easy to hide a cable).0 -
I would (and did) cable it with cat-5, lift the carpets around the edge of the room, run the cable, put the carpet back.
I was having issues with my neighbours using different wifi channels every day (caused by switching router off when not in use) and interfering with my connection.... So I ran cat-5 from the router in the living room, down the hallway, through the brick wall to the utilities cupboard outside, up through the floor boards and into my office.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

We have a wooden floor, so I think the TP link solution is probably the best call for me.0

You can get 'flat' ethernet cable - if you search for it!0
