Hey guys,
I have lived in Australia for the last three years. Before leaving I closed my HSBC current account, but left my Halifax savings account open with a small sum of money in it.
I am now back in the UK and need to get things back up and running.
How can I check my credit score?? Do I even have one??
Can I open a new bank account?
Will I be able to rent a property??
Thanks in advance

1. No such thing as a credit score, only your credit history.
You can obtain copies of your credit reports from the 3 credit reference agencies here which costs £2 each (Noddle which is CallCredit is free):

2. Yes, you should be able to open a bank account - however, you may want to try with Halifax first seeing as you still hold a product with them. If you get turned down for a current account, you may have to settle for a basic bank account until your credit history is better.

3. As long as you have a job and money for a deposit, I don't see any reason why not.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for that.
I completed one of the credit checks, but returned as an error. Guess I will just have to start from scratch and follow the credit builder tips0
