And I suppose S water just guessed about the address of grandparents???!!!
They must have had some method of linking OP and grandparents address other than Mystic Meg

I have no idea how they got it. I lived in Bognor Regis and my grandparents live in London. We don't have the same surnames and I NEVER, EVER gave out their address to anyone. If you're not going to help, please go away. I'm stressed enough about this, I don't need you waving your SW flag in my face.

Well I suggest you get a swedish speaker to go to the post office with you as I am sure they will have the same system as UK.
You really need to be getting in touch with S Water as they are the ONLY ones that can help you.
PS I am not a Swlover or employee but you are the ONLY one that can help.
If your in laws are not helpful then talk to your boyfriend/significant other as landlines are MASSIVELY cheaper if you are hanging on.
    Are you working or not

I do not believe ANY mobile operator charges £2 per minute either

There are no "post offices" in Sweden as there are in the UK.
You have a post box to send things and you go to your local ICA, like one stop or tesco, to pick up big packages if you choose to have them sent there.
They don't have similar systems as the UK, things are extremely different here. For example, if you're not registered on the government database saying you live at a certain address, you don't get any of your post. The whole postal system here is completely different seeing as it's a different country.

If it was as simple as calling them or sending a letter I wouldn't be on the forums asking for help. Seeing as I've already sent letters and called with no reply or response, I'm here trying to get advice.

In regards to the mobile and land line charges, it's extortionate calling the UK from another country. I've seen the land line phone bill and my phone disconnected me while waiting in queue to Southern Water. If you don't believe it, that's fine by me.
  • I don't have a final bill. I called them a few days before I left to make sure everything was paid in full, was told I was so the final bill would have been sent to my old flat.

I suspect this statement explains the problem.

When you called had you already left the property in question and had your water supply already been terminated or were you calling them while you were still in the property and still being supplied by them?

A Final Bill is exactly that, the final bill you will receive and may be more or less than your standard monthly bill. The key issue is that the final bill can only be issued AFTER you have vacated the property and reported your final meter reading.

I'm guessing the final bill was actually sent to the OP after she had vacated the property and she had not provided a new address for it to be sent to so never received it.

I believe I called them a few weeks before, saying I would be moving country which got the whole process started. I then called the evening before we left, when all my furniture had already been shipped and was told everything was paid up so I wouldn't have to worry about any other payments. I do not recall being told about a final bill, I've never had one/heard of one, but I gave them my forwarding address, in Sweden, and I gave it to the estate agents in case anything went awry. Would they have sent it to the old flat or sent it to me here considering I gave them my new address?

We also didn't have a meter for water, it was a fixed rate if that helps anything.

How much are SW/the debt collectors after? I've read and re-read your posts and can see no mention of a figure.

If you were not metered, you can work out exactly to a penny how much you should have paid for the year 01 April 2014 to 31 March 2015 to the date in February 2015 when you moved.

The charges for 2014/15 have to be paid in advance. If you didn't leave a forwarding address it is not surprising you didn't get a final bill.
