TV Deals

Options
I am looking for a new 4k TV... it has to be between 40-44 inch max. Any suggestions for good deals?

I have been looking at this in Currys:
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/lg-43uf680v-smart-ultra-hd-4k-43-led-tv-10135235-pdt.html

I couldnt find it on amazon etc to read a wide scope of reviews though :(

Seemed a good price....my last flat screen was bought nearly 10 years ago so I am a bit out of touch with all the latest specs etc.

At 40 inch, you're only going to notice the difference between 4K and full HD if you're sitting ridiculously close to the thing.

From a 'normal' viewing distance, as sitting 5ft from the tv, you are unlikely to notice any difference.

4K is meant really for larger displays where people are going for a full on home cinema experience.

  • Whatever you do, don't buy from Currys. They are a bunch of shysters who shouldn't be in business.
Richer Sounds or John Lewis is your best bet.

Richer Sounds, signup for free VIP membership and get the free 6 year warranty. There price will also be better than Currys.
There customer service is rated as one of the best in the UK.

For a 4k TV, waiting a year or two would give you an even better deal!

Early adopters pay a premium price.

the price has already plummetted somewhat, an 8K tv will be out in October..
  • I got an HD LG 42" TV 2 years ago, it's great and everything I wanted. No complaints. Back then I paid nearly £700 for it. Can't believe how quick 4k TV prices have dropped. Having said that, I can't notice the difference between HD and 4k on that size screen in the shops - as Freddie says, more for the bigger stuff, which is maybe why they dropped in price. I have bought from Currys before - once you've decided on the model you want, you buy it from the cheapest place. Richer sounds are great for getting advice and have knowledgeable staff - but that doesn't matter once you've decided what you are buying. The LG tv I did buy, I got from Hughes Direct online as I got cash back of about £80 (after looking at it in Currys). I did buy a sound bar from Currys in January after getting advice from my local Richer Sounds, but I've never had advice from Currys! and never bought from Richer Sounds either. I'm now thinking of getting a HD projector but that's another story.

give it another 15 years, and you might be able to watch eastenders in 8k

Have you got any 4k content to watch and a fast enough broadband connection to get it. There should be a steady stream of Freeview play TV's on the market soon, if you aren't a sky user and like the idea of catchup tv via epg's

Youview already does this. As does Freetime on the Freesat platform. Freeview Play seems a bit late to the market...
