how do i do these ?
i love them much to hubby's disgust. and last time i was in chippy i think they wer 50p each  . so thought i'd give them a whirl at making them.
was wondering how i do them and how long they need to be in vinegar before i could eat them.0 -
Hard boil the eggs. Put them in a jar and cover with pickling vinegar. You can eat them after a few days.0

I'm not keen on them but I pickled some 2 years ago and they worked their way back to the back of my cupboard (a place not oft visited). Found them as we're packing to move. Hubbie well excited !!! (he loves 'em). Bless, he's easily pleased.. (well, he did marry me...) I wasn't sure if they were OK to eat but hubbie had a taste and declared them 'delicious' (ewwwwww.....)0

Eurgh... OSO loves these and claims they are the highest form of foodstuff! Pickled onions, yes - that I get (*nyom*) but eggs...?
I'll have to give this a go for him. Last time I tried pickling onions they went funny though. Maybe the jar wasn't clean enough. Can one just drop the eggs straight into the jar that the pickling vinegar comes in?0 -
Not sure about that Calephetos. The bottle would overflow.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Not if the vinegar comes in a bottle! I use a couple of old 200g coffee jars.
It is well worth keeping an eye open in the supermarket "reduced to clear" sections for suitable eggs for pickling. A month or so ago, I found some eggs - well within their dates, none broken, but just had dried egg from another breakage on the boxes - reduced to just 50p per half dozen! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Because they get hard boiled this is a good way of using up eggs that might be getting on a bit.0
