I wouldn't be entirely surprised if this did happen - not necessarily this particular bottle but just at some point, somewhere. I worked shop floor in a supermarket and we sometimes got pallets of drinks where someone along the chain had randomly taken one out of the middle, drunk most of it and put the bottle back (you could tell it had been done on purpose by the way the pack had been opened etc - one bottle had lipstick on!). If they'd do that I wouldn't put it past someone with a grudge to top one back up at some point! :p
The OP was asked if the seal was broken on the suspect bottle, but failed to answer the question.

I believe it was scenarios like that that lead to tamper evident packaging. Well not exactly like that, some were more sinister - ie members of the public tainting the products/claiming to have tainted them.

There was an elderly couple in america too a few years ago who were buying $1.40 jello, then refilling it with sand and salt and taking it back for a refund - over 50 times. All for free dessert. Some people don't seem to see the connection between action and consequence!
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
