Dodgy tonic?

I bought two bottles of tonic from a supermarket. It was only when I got them home and had them standing side by side that I noticed one of them has a slight yellow tinge as opposed to the other which is clear.
They are both the same ie plain with no lemon/lime flavouring and they have the same date.
Would you take them back or is that kicking up a fuss over nothing? I'm concerned that a disgruntled employee may have urinated in the discoloured one!

Is the bottle sealed? Your concerns are pretty much unfounded and ridiculous, why on earth would you come up with that scenario?

I believe, if I remember correctly, that the quinine in tonic water can give it a yellow tinge. UV light (sunlight) is absorbed by the quinine and as its a fluorescent it can adopt a yellow tinge.

If the seal on the screw cap is broken take it back, if not don't worry

When did you get your sense of humour bypass? Was it expensive? :D
I'm just speculating as to why it should be a different colour - albeit a bit tongue in cheek maybe. I've never had tonic that wasn't perfectly clear,

That's interesting thanks. Maybe it has a tad more quinine.
  • Add some pee to the clear one until the two yellow colours match and do a taste test...:D

Ok you win, but you would, or actually looking at your post count probably wouldn't, be surprised how many people would post something like that on here and be perfectly serious about it.

I'll ask for a refund on the bypass, it's working a bit to well.

Might be relevant, but I regularly buy coconut water. There is a disclaimer on the side which says something like 'taste and colour may vary from carton to carton'. This is generally the case, but they are still absolutely fine!

Maybe it could be something similar?
