I'd say so far you've pretty much got it covered but I would be arriving at the airport at 3.30 not 4.30. If you arrive at 4.30 I think you'd be pushing it and end up stressed
I've never flown from Stansted but regularly fly from Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool and always aim to get to the airport 3 hours before. This gives me half hour to park the car, we usually do meet and greet too but at Manchester it's more of a drop off point so you still have to hand in keys etc and leeds we had to do a check of the car with the driver who collected our car and sign paperwork which still took 10-15mins.
then there's usually a queue as Ryanair check in several flights at once so that can slow things down. Add in slow toddlers or little one who wants to stop and look at everything and it's soon a mad dash.! I'd rather give myself plenty of time to get through and then relax with a coffeeLea

Something to think about, thank you. Another hour shaved off the short time in bed tonight, haha! Why do they do flights so early?!
My brother went out on Saturday (getting married) and I know they left the house at 3.19am with meet and greet and I know they have made it, but maybe I'll give myself an extra half hour and leave at 3am to get to the airport at 4. My mum is planning to arrive at 3.50am by coach.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

One last thing from me, it can be a bit of a trek to the, gates from the departure lounge at Stansted. Especially if you have to get the mono rail. Set off when you see your gate announced if you can. Personal experience here of waiting for the train as just missed one, then sprinting to the gate. You don't need that stress!0

Yes, thanks for that. I think as soon as we get there, we are going to all we can to get to the gate. I have now decided to bring food with me rather than buy at the airport, although I might buy crisps or something.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Just looking at departures from Stansted to see if there are many planes leaving. Can't see information for tomorrow yet, but... how do planes have the same departure time? I thought there was only one runway at Stansted or am I being dim?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

many flights will have the same departure time, but don't take off at the same time, there's at least 30 seconds between each take-off, usually 60seconds. The time between each one also depends on weather.
Once an aircraft is fully loaded and doors closed, the pilots send a message to Air Traffic Control (ATC) to say they're ready and ATC will then give them instructions as to when they can taxi for take-off.0 -

30 SECONDS! Isn't it usually 2 mins MINIMUM from the same departure point (non-military) more for a light aircraft behind a very large one.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -
It can be as little as 30 seconds, and it can be as much as 5 mins in foggy conditions. Also, as you say a bigger gap between a small aircraft following a jumbo than the other way round.0
