    No problem takng food.

Give them any kind of sandwich, just tell them it is breakfast :) Add in a piece of fruit & a couple of prewrapped chocolate pancakes & they should be good for a while. I always take food on a plane as my ds is quite a hungry child & I am diabetic so never want to be in a hypo situation. We once took half a chicken & some sticky rice :D
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

And we are on holiday, so they can eat a bit of parp. My dad's a diabetic, always has those glucose tablets on him which my kids obv think are sweets.

Last time I flew from Stansted it was definitely worth getting the Fast Track for security as queues were huge (but few people were using Fast Track). I noticed some machines selling Fast Track tickets, so I guess you don't need to buy it in advance if you want to assess the queues first (don't know if there's any kind of limit on how many tickets they sell, though).
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

I've bought these for peace of mind. And did it over the phone so I did it right, as in booked right time.

The only thing I have to find out now is about this self service drop that Ryanair have. That might come in handy as we are checking in three suitcases.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

In regards to the calpol, take the sachets or a small bottle. It needs to be a bottle of 100ml or less to go through security. Each person travelling can have a liquid bag. I suspect Stanstead charge for these bags so get some resealable sandwich bags from the supermarket (size 8"x8"/20cm x 20cm) to save money and to have them ready filled before you get to the airport. All liquids, gels and pastes need to go in these bags for things you're taking as hand luggage. Each item must be 100ml or less. You cannot bring partially full bottles bigger than 100ml.
Baby food and baby milk is exempt (but will be checked in other ways) but if your child is older than 2 I doubt you can get away with it.

Sandwiches are fine to bring through without restrictions, as are any "solid" food such as flapjacks, pancakes, biscuits etc. Yoghurts are not.

To avoid any arguments about window seats (unless you get two windows), one child gets to look out the window for take-off, the other for landing. That's the rules ;) On the way home, reverse it. Then they've both had a window seat for take-off and landing.

Sounds great. Might give it a go if, between the three adults, we can figure out how it works. Might put my 6 year old on to it, she'd probably be able to do it.

Thanks for this. I think if I need to, I'll just buy calpol past security in Boots or something. I don't generally give my kids medicine very often.

As for the window seats, as there are 5 of us flying, I have reserved two window seats, so they can have one each. I have a feeling my youngest will be a bit scared as she's never been on a plane before.

  • You could pack the capol in your checked luggage as it is unlikely you will need it for the flight.

Re the self service bag drop you just need your printed tickets which you scan at the machine, place your suitcase on a scale and if it is 15kg or below it prints your luggage tag which you attach and take it to a dedicated isle right by the machines and give your luggage in - whole thing took 5 mins.

Official meet and greet is easy to use at Stansted. A guy meets you at the drop off, helps you unload the car and then takes the car away. On your arrival back you have a 2 minute walk to a little car park almost outside where your car will be ready for you.
