This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Morning all!

Hope everyone's well and ... still asleep!

Feeling a lot more positive since I started planning activities into my day again and getting off my rear end to do them so will continue with that today.

Morning Plan

1. Get house ready for cleaner (No, I don't clean before she comes. I make sure the house is tidy, dishes done etc so that she does the actual cleaning and not picking up after me.)
2. Paperwork (How did I end up with so much?)
3. Drop off Avon order to rep.
4. Into town. Buy aqueous cream & birthday gift.

Looking forward to seeing what you're all up to. Apart from sleeping ;p

• Morning Laura and all who follow. A marginally better night for me last night in that I wasn't up to the loo quite so much. After almost two years of this ongoing UTI/IC problem I am sick of it.

It promises to be a nice day today so I might get the garden tidied up a bit this afternoon. Because Mr TA hasn't been able to help this summer it has ended up a bit of a wilderness. I used to wish we had a big garden but now I am glad we haven't! I can hardly keep up to what we do have.

I need to pop down into town at some point this morning or my soup making will stop as fast as it started! I got the Tomato & Basil soup made and frozen in bags yesterday but will have to nip down to Uncle Jack's Bargains (these days known by its posher name of Fulton Foods!) before I can make the Lentil & Bacon and Pea & Ham. I thought I had some of their cooking bacon in the freezer but must have used it all up.

Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if needed. Well done to your DD ELONA. Take care all xx

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now just getting light, dry and cloudy – at least its drying up after all the rain yesterday. I have a basket full of washing to put out on the line, I’ll do that shortly.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work.
DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta, delicious as always, clean bowls all round. Tonight we’re having bacon and vegetable frittata, with HM coleslaw, salad, skinny chips, cous cous and pasta salads (there’s part tubs of the salad stuff so needs using up, I’ll make the coleslaw when I get home later).

Yesterday work was rather strange, started off very quiet for a Monday although we had several people waiting for us to open, but we got all of them dealt with quite quickly then it went really quiet, and then late morning it just went mad and stayed like it until we closed. I’m working at the other office today so will see what that brings.

Keep safe and well x

Good Morning all, although not much good about the weather .It's bucketing down again !!! where has all this rain come from it seems to be non-stop.

I am off to Bluewater today to meet up with my friends from Dartford. We do this now and again as its between the two of us and we like to have a potter around .We may go to the cinema as well as I get a two for one deal with my CEA ticket.so we halve to cost between us.She is getting married in November so we may be looking for some shoes as well. Her and her partner have been together for 21 years and he is such a lovely chap as well and its took him this long to get her to agree to remarry.First time round wasn't a great time for her.I am so pleased for them both.We will no doubt be drinking lots of coffee and nattering as usual.
I hope everyone has a good day, busy one for me as I am out tonight as well at quiz night
Cheers chums ,try and keep dry
JackieO xx

PS <<<Bit of research into the Amish as they fascinate me.>>>
notjustlaura when I was in America a few years ago I went to a small town in Pennsylvania to see their lifestyle and it was fascinating.Whilst there my eldest DD rang my mobile to make sure I was OK and I said
" I'm fine Shelley, can't speak at the moment I'm in the middle of Intercourse watching some of the people "
She nearly had heart failure and yelled out WHAT The town is called Intercourse and didn't realise until I explained to her :):):) She was at work and I could hear her saying to her friend What's my Mum up to for goodness sake. took her ages to forgive me as she is a lovely lass but not got a great sense of humour :):):):)

Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a very grey day but no rain so far this morning. Hubby has just gone off to work and two of the girls are getting themselves organised for school. I will have the pleasure of DD14's company though as she is poorly with a sore throat and temperature. I've ordered some cough and cold medicine to come with my online shop this evening so she will have to be cope till then.

I have another three loads of washing to do today and must remember to put the recycling out. I forgot last week so the box is overflowing. I am not expecting any visitors today so will take the opportunity to crack on with my knitting. I am about halfway through making a snowman for Christmas. I want to find some knitted hat patterns too so will be looking online later.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all,

Raining here again, will it ever stop ? off to work for me at the quieter site today but the rain does mean it will be a bit busier ! I also get to see my very favourite client today who I have not seen for a few weeks due to holiday etc so I am looking forward to that.

Chicken curry tonight with rice and poppadum's I will try and get it in the sc before I go to work will see how the time goes. Will have to do a wash tonight and put on the airer.

My sister is coming to dog sit today, we are covered until next Tues and then that's it, I really hope that someone comes along and offers her a home she really is the most gentle of dogs.

Right better get on have good days all xx
• Morning All

A lovely bright morning, looks like we will be having sunshine again. Yesterday's rain cleared up and we had a lovely sunny day, the washing in the conservatory was very dry.

Bed stripped and will put it out in a minute, going to a friends house after work so I hope the weather stays fine till I get in. She's making supper so no dinner to worry about tonight.

Car going for a service today so I will get the train to friends and pick it up while I am there, the garage are going to pick it up from work.

Last night's tea was interesting, a ready cooked chicken fajita I found in the freezer with a side of carrot and swede, also found in the freezer! I am determined to use up everything in the freezer but may try to plan a little better!

Managed to get loads of woodwork painted last night so feeling quite pleased with myself, only downside was that I painted some of the bannister and held on to the big ball at the top twice when I went downstairs! So twice I was covered in paint! Must try harder next time.

Elona - Congrats to your DD.
TA - Feel better soon.
dumpling - Hope your DD is well soon too.
JackieO - have a lovely day.
Meanmarie & LW - Are you ok?

Have a lovely day. Take care. XX

Morning everyone.

Still grey here too though sunshine has been promised. Yesterday turned out to have lovely weather but today is washing day.

My meeting in Oban was very successful, I now know about the 'back end' of the online computer system we use to check students' progress. My winter prep shop got pretty large but I think there are enough tins to see us through two winters. We don't tend to get snow on the coast it's just the memory of last years' power cuts which dog me.

Today I am having a session at the docs with the laser machine. Alarmingly I have developed some chin hair in my old age which I just can't bear. The removal is not on the NHS but not too expensive and, even better, in the nearby town which amazed me. So no long trip to Glasgow or medium trip to Oban. I've got to collect an ordered item from the chemist again. They seem to have modernised their stock list and no longer keep things like surgical spirit and hydrogen peroxide in like they used to. At least they can get it from their supplier easily enough.

Right, cracking on. Will start WM up before I get showered.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

The rain started just after I posted yesterday. Just drizzle, but it was wet enough for Scamps to leave a trail of muddy pawprints all over the floors. He's suddenly got over his fear (or whatever it was) of rain and will happily go out in it now so I'm expecting to add floor cleaning to my daily routine :D He doesn't like to pee outside when the ground is wet though, we are having discussions each time he needs to go out but won't, lol.

Just done my first ever payroll, I'm feeling very proud of myself :D I'm supposed to send the info to HMRC by the 22nd of each month but I haven't been able to do it, they want a code which they haven't sent to me. I'll get on to them today about that.

It's raining again so I'll just be pottering about. My pottering days usually end up being more productive than my planned days :D

• Good Morning everyone, feeling numb headed this morning as we had very heavy showers most of the night, never for a very long time but lots of them and I think I woke up with the noise of every one! Ne'mind I've not got much on that is urgent today and can do what I'm safe to do and leave what I'm not!

I've very nearly succeeded in using up everything in the fridge, I'm being inventive and made a massive big pan of split pea and bacon soup yesterday. I have some ends of cheese to be inventive with today so will have a mosey through my veggie cook books and see if I can find something yummy to make. The garden and allotment are noticeably slowing production now so although we've still got tomatoes and courgettes on a slower but regular basis all else is getting sparse including the beans on the wigwam. It's AUTUMN!!!

We walked Cookie late in the afternoon yesterday and got caught in some mega heavy showers, luckily we were able to get under some trees but the shelter was not quite enough and we all 3 got quite wet, poor Cookie was dripping and squeaked and whined but was fine when we got going again, she was glad to get home for a rub down poor pet. He Who Knows has her out at the moment but this afternoon looks very wet at times so maybe we'll leave her until tomorrow.

Look after yourselves and stay out of the rain, Lyn xxx.
