We want you to recognise a fraudulent email if you receive one. We will always greet you personally with your name and quote the last four digits of your account number: **** . Find out more.
TSB
Interest freedom. 0% balance transfers and purchases for up to 20 months.
Hello MABLE,
A credit card should give you room to spread your wings. So our best ever Platinum Credit Card comes with:
• 0% interest on balance transfers for
up to 20 months
• 0% interest on purchases for
up to 20 months
• No annual fee
Better still, we've already checked and you're pre-approved to get it.
You just need to confirm you can afford the payments.
A balance transfer can be up to 95% of your available credit limit and you can transfer a minimum of £100 at a time from any non-TSB credit card or store card. There's a 2.95% fee for each transfer, which we'll add to your card. When the introductory 0% period ends, your transactions will be charged at the normal rate for purchases. To stay eligible for promotional rates, you must stay within your credit limit and make your payments on time each month.

Has anyone else received this email and has it lived up to its name and your application has been accepted because it is pre approved. Me thinks just another marketing trick.

It'll be pre-approved. If you accept the offer you'll get the card in a few days.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Good morning,
Just to add some input to this thread, I was sent the same email, saying I had been pre-approved.
Just been turned down for a credit card from TSB.
I thought it was guaranteed (even if it was a low credit limit) but I've been declined.
Cheers0 -

I always thought the same thing, that 'pre-approved' was just BS marketing speak meaning absolutely nothing, but giving you the impression that the bank have selected you, thus making you want to take out the card and spend with them.
It's when they state 'guaranteed acceptance' which is different. Also, the 'guaranteed acceptance' offers are usually within your online banking when you log in whereby you don't have to fill in any details of your address/employment etc. you just press the accept button and you're instantly accepted and just sit back and wait for your card in the post.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I received the email and I decided to apply and got a provisional limit of 2250, although they said they would get back to me with a final decision.0 -
Thanks everyone for replying. I did actually speak to them and as I suspected its just a marketing ploy. They confirmed no credit check had been carried out and they would need to process the application.
I do not need the card but just interested in what they would say. Oh well back to work.
Also the guy I spoke to sounded so uninterested and bored.0 -

Of course there was no credit check, you haven't been told about one or given your permission for one.
You will have, however, passed the first hurdle of the internal check. Some customers will be outright refused if their internal profile is too low. Yours is sufficient, hence the pre approval. You just need final checks to show you can afford repayments (as the email says), which they check with a credit check.0 -
I have at least 10 cards so will not bother. However I hasten to add used in a sensible manner and pay off the ones in use every month unless its a promotional one.
The ambition is of course to cause a global meltdown, when the 0% BT balance gets too large to fail, so you get a bail out. Great minds think alike.0 -
Hi there!
Glad to hear that your application has been successful!
Do you have a copy of the terms and conditions at the bottom of the e-mail, just to see the wording on how they can quote 'pre-approved'?
Thanks so much and enjoy your cards benefits!Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0
