Problem with Three Upgrade

I'm after some advice.
Last week I upgraded my phone with Three. I have emails saying this will be delivered to my home address. When I got the emali from the courier some how the address had got changed to a different address in a different town ( Not by me).
I rang three the next morning to tell them and they said they would stop the delivery. They failed top do this and someone signed for the phone.
I am now stuck where they wont send me a new phone until they have that one back. In addition they wouldn't let me cancel the upgrade until this phone is retrieved.
This is issue is all caused by them, but I'm stuck in the middle. Does anyone have any idea what I can do ??
Each time I phone I get asked do I know the person who has signed for it. It just seems that there are different departments emailing each other and I don't know how to resolve it.

Stop wasting your time on talking to idiots from the telephone CS.
Complain in writing and demand the upgrade to get cancelled backwards.
They !!!!ed up and it's their problem to retrieve the phone. You have nothing to do with this. Period.

Will writing make any difference to talking to CS?
If so I will definitely do that

Writing or e-mail. Anything but telephone agents that main task is fobbing off and giving runaround, not solving problems.
