This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Morning all! How are you today?

I woke up at 4am again and am feeling tired and frustrated. But, as promised, I do have a plan to try and get myself into a better place. I"m not depressed but I am bored and lonely since giving up the Lottie. The solution is therefore to do more worthwhile stuff instead of lying in bed watching TV and get out and about more - also instead of lying in bed watching TV.

Here's today's plan:

Morning: Paperwork, decluttering, Flylady.
Afternoon: Go to M&D's where my gardening tools are being stored and start cleaning and oiling them. Go to library.
Evening: Go to Scottish Wildlife Trust talk.

Off we go ...

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now just getting light, dry and blustery at the moment.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Lunch yesterday was bacon rolls, and last night dinner was roast chicken and rice. DH and I had been away just for 1 night and we got home 2pm’ish yesterday, boys had eaten lunch but as always could manage a bacon roll! I’d taken bacon and rolls to feed 50 people and there was LO’s so we all had some for lunch and then the rest of the bacon has been bagged up and is now in the freezer, the rolls are nearly all gone as I’ve used them again today for lunches. Tonight dinner will be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta.

The weekend was absolutely glorious and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the good weather, there certainly won’t be many more days like that this year. We had a catch up with some people that we had met on our main holiday this year too.

Back to work for me today, not sure what it will bring, manic Monday I imagine, as the travelling fair was in our town last week and loads of people don’t come into the town as they use up 1 whole car park and over half of another, so parking is limited. So we’re likely to have a few busy days.

Keep safe and well x

• Morning all. Well the promised rain isn't with us yet but it looks none too promising out there.

Another bad night for me with this blessed IC. I've lost count of the number of times I was in and out of bed. Finally by 5.30 I'd had enough and got up. I think these Urologists are getting paid good money for nothing if they can't find a cure for us sufferers. And yet the boffins can send planets to Mars. Bah don't get me started on how the money could be better spent!!

Now Autumn is knocking I think it's time I made a start on my batch soups-to-freeze-in portions. Today I am making my Tomato & Basil soup. Nice and warming. Ingredients lined up ready to go. Also a pan of savoury mince (using the ys lean mince I got yesterday) I seem to be making the same stuff over and over for Mr TA but it's his request as he finds it easier to eat this sort of meal. So will do enough for his next couple of lunches, and freeze what's left. The Oramorph does seem to be helping him eat a little more without the pain/discomfort coming on but the days of big platefuls are no more sadly. I just hope the angiogram on Friday throws more light on it.

Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if you need them. LAURA good luck with getting yourself in a better place. It's not easy I know - baby steps and hopefully you'll get there. Take care all xx

It's raining! Not seen the rain for a week or so so quite a novelty but I think there's been enough now. The washing is on airers in the conservatory.

Deep cleaned the downstairs bathroom (messy from me painting!), living room, my bedroom and DDs bedroom yesterday - at least DDs bedroom will stay tidy now she's moved out! RR, thanks for asking, she's doing really well and enjoying having a place of her own.
Now she has internet I would imagine her life is complete!

I started to paint the woodwork upstairs but my heart wasn't in it so just used what was in the tray and gave up. Had salmon and veggies for dinner, had a nice long bath and caught up on some TV, lovely and relaxing.

Laura - Chin up lovey, you will find some sort of routine soon. I think I missed why you gave up your allotment?
TA - hope you feel better soon.
Elona - Did you hear anything from your viewer?

Packed lunch of salad made, not sure what I will have for tea, that seems a long way off! Back to my normal job from today, have really enjoyed being in the office, maybe that's what I should look into.

Have a good week ahead. Take care. XX

Morning everyone.

Still grey outside with heavy rain forecast. Tomorrow is meant to be sunny do I'll save the washing for then.

Yesterday I took a load to the tip / recycle centre, sorted out an annoying spreadsheet and burnt a couple of CDs for the car. I also finished the hanging sboit book and did a bit in the garden before the rain started.

This morning I've got a meeting in Oban at 10am and then will do a winter prep shop. I need a few tins for the barn, things which can heated / cooked on top of the woodburner in case of power cuts. There's plenty of wood, kind, ing, matches and newspaper already.

As I ate too much yesterday I intend to have a feast free day!

TA - sorry to hear you're still not free of these attacks.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning :hello:

TravellingAbuela I hope you get some rest today xx I'm always ranting about how they can send people/things to space, take detailed photos of far away planets etc. but can't find the head of a terrorist group on this planet or properly fund the two most important things – health and education. If we're all educated and healthy, most other things will sort themselves out IMO.

Thanks for the tips yesterday, turns out miss tru has the body shop hemp cream so I'll try that, then work my way through the other suggestions if it doesn't suit me :D

I've started crocheting my jumper. I've never made one before, plus I've decided not to use a pattern, I'm going to make it up as I go. This could go really well or really badly – probably the latter :D

Paperwork first thing this morning, then I need to download something from the HMRC site for master tru. I think it includes software for payroll, if not I'll have to download that too. I want to tidy the garden, it looks like it might rain so I'll get that done sooner rather than later. I'll hang the washing indoors, it's too damp out there to dry even if it doesn't rain. Crochet later, I need to start a new baby blanket and carry on the fight with my jumper :D

• TRU you've reminded me of a jumper I crocheted for Mr TA when we were courting in the early 70's! It was grandad style (round neck and 4 buttons) and it was purple! Yes PURPLE!! And worse still he wore it! Anyway good luck with yours.

She says and she pokes her head over the parapet.
Hope you are all OK, as not been here for a while.

I'm also doing paperwork today, as we are off to find some sun again at the end of the week and like to clear up before we go, I started it on Friday to find a cheque I need to pay in, which could not be found anywhere, so yesterday looking for something completely different, found it in the one place I had looked and knew it should be, :o so need to pop into town to get a few bits for the trip and to pay it in.

Life is good, Skye is great. Struggling with silent reflux, which in the end has had me coming off my anti-inflamatories, so my knees are not at all friends of me, hopefully the drier, warmer climate will help me cope. Now find what I thought was my good knee, is actually now my bad knee, and vice versa.  Ain't old age great!! Strange how you find your parents ills are now becoming your own, my Mum suffered badly with her knees. The one thing I know I have to do is to tackle my weight, if the knees are carrying a stone or three less, they will certainly benefit, so that is my plan next, how to achieve it I am not sure, as the low carb I usually do does not match with the low fat for the silent reflux, and the low fat one doesnt usually work good for me, but hey ho, salads are great in warmer weather! ;)

Better get my bum in gear, so (((hugs))), Spoons & positive vibes all round. LW & Molly. Take care everyone.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
• Good morning everyone. It has been raining heavily here in the Midlands for a good few hours now and still isn't properly light. It's a good job I got most of the washing done over the weekend when we had lovely weather. What bit of washing I did overnight will be put on airers in the conservatory. I have a pile of ironing to catch up on so I will put some music on and work my way through the ironing.

The house is reasonably tidy so I only need a quick whizz round to get things in order and then I'll get on with some paperwork which needs to be done.

Laura and TA hugs to you x

Have a good day everyone x
