  • The second par of that actually sounds pretty good to me. At the moment we have sky tv and broadband for example, and as we both decided on it when we moved in I cant really change it but living by myself I'll happily take freeview and a much cheaper internet from somewhere else. And he does seem to use a lot of toilet rolls...

All will be well. I just wish the initial outlay on moving homes wasn't so much, it's crazy really. Can't really be helped though.

Just bulk-bought 108 loo rolls for £30 from ebay.
Worth looking around for things like that and don't forget, when looking for a new telephone/BB deal, run your choices through a cashback site to see if you can get any money back.

That's a good price per roll Patman but I'm not sure where I'd have room to store them all :rotfl:

  • Cash back site, got it. Also, that's an impressive haul. Now if only you can think of some way to reuse the cardboard tubes that would be really impressive.

I spent £2 today as my favourite crisps were on offer. Worth it possibly, but it could have been avoided.

  • Hello, Internet.

I spent so much money today. First I bought Greggs and a bottle of DP on the way to work for £2.95. Then at work I bought some iced gems for 40p. A woman on my team runs a tuck shop from behind her desk (as you do) and I've been eyeing them up all week. On the way home I got some cat litter which was needed for £5.45 and two big bottles of DP for £2.50, which were not needed. At least they were on offer. All in all I spent £11.30.

It seems that when I'm grumpy, I buy rubbish. Not big expensive rubbish at the moment, which is good, but it all adds up and when things are so tight I should be more disciplined really.

So, this weeks budget now stands at £3.60. Just tomorrow left to go, but it would have been nice to have more left over. 23 days until payyyydayyyy.

Also today, I got a £20 cheque from my water company, but I don't really understand what for. I requested a refund a few weeks ago for around £15 which I was in credit for, but I already had this sent into my bank account. I'll call them later and find out what it was for before I cash it. I did make a complaint to them, as the first time I requested the refund it wasn't put through, but the cheque came with no explanation... Still, if companies want to send me money then I guess I'm all for it.

You still have money left in your budget which is the main thing. Out of your spends yesterday almost half was needed so under £6 was spent on treats. Don't beat yourself up over that - we all need wee treats along the way. Hope you get to keep the cheque :D it would be a good start towards the moving fund.

  • Completely agree with misstara above, you need treats along the way to stop the urge to splurge! :D

  • Thats all very true, thanks guys. Well, I ended the week in budget, but not with a lot to put aside. After going to greggs for breakfast this morning, a habit that (understandable treats aside) I would do well to break I have £1.90 left which is going straight into the moving fund. Woohoo!

On the plus side, welsh water told me that cheque was for a break in supply we apparently had which neither of us noticed. I'll have to split it with my housemate, but that's a tenner for the moving fund right there as well! New weekly budget starts tomorrow, aim is to have more left than this week. Shouldn't be too tough...

22 days left until bonanza payday.

  • Ok internet, so a mixed bag for the first day of the new week. I havent done my weekly shop yet, I'll do that on Sunday, but I did spend £3 to feed myself today. So that reduces the budget to £31.

I signed up for that Vivatic site today as well. I spent a long long long time on it, but I've made £6.76. It's quite frustrating really, so many surveys that you have to spend ten minutes answering questions on before they tell you you are just not eligible. I think I'll keep cracking away at it though, whilst I'm watching tv in the evenings. At least until I've made the first £20. Then we'll see.

    21 days until payday.
