Freegle is always worth a look if you need a wardrobe. You do occassionally get the odd one pop-up (or you can post a 'wanted' if you want).

It dosn't matter if it is in a bit of a state as you can rub it down and paint it. Very MSE.

Or, local charity shops that sell furniture (Emmaus springs to mind) are worth a visit. Cheaper than buying new.

If you're not fussed about having a 'traditional' wardrobe, IKEA do some fairly sturdy rail type things that are pretty cheap. I'm using them as we are in a roof bedroom (3 storey house) with no wall space for traditional wardrobes, and it's a rental so no option to consider having something custom built.

See, this is a good thought but the problem I have with this is that sources like this don't normally deliver. I don't drive and none of the people I live near who I'm close enough to to ask for his sort of favour drive either!

I'm unsure here, as this was exactly the sort of thing my old 'wardrobe' was and it just didn't last. The one you have looks pretty sturdy though but its a lot longer than my old one and I'm not sure if it'll fit into the space. My room is pretty compact. I will check these out a bit more though, as mine did last a good year or so.

  • So just a quick check in, to show I haven't disappeared from the face of the earth. I still have family round and I've not been able to really sit down and work out how much I have left nor do a proper shop, but they will be leaving tomorrow and I'll figure it all out then. Payday is in just over a week...

  • Hello there, dear Internet.

So, after the crazy expensive weekend (and having bought and sent my Mum's birthday gift) I have £15.90 left until payday. Payday is on the 15th. I have enough food in he cupboards to last until this weekend, I think this will be ok.

And THEN the real fun begins! Payday I can make the first set of minimum payments from all my debts, replace my treacherous wardrobe and then allocate myself some weekly money. Anything left over at the end of each week Will be going towards overpayments starting with the smallest payday loan. Every pennie from then on will be accounted for on here, but I'm not going to be too harsh on myself. If I want the odd bottle of Dr Pepper, I'll allow it!

    Wish me luck!

Why thank you, and yes I have every intention of keeping you posted on my journey. You must all see so many people start with such good intentions to then just disappear without a trace but that is not going to happen to me. I think this diary is just what I need.

Today has been a no spend day as well. Tomorrow should be the same, but I am thinking I could do with some eggs so it might not be. We shall see.

  • OK, internet, so this is going to be my last diary entry until payday next Thursday. There really will be nothing to report before then; I have no money to spend, no money to save, nothing I need to buy anyway and no money left to pay debts off with. But then, every day posting and weekly debt overpayments will be the plan!

I do today, however, have some exciting news. Work is really busy at the moment. So busy, they are desperate for people to do overtime. So desperate, in fact, that they've offered an incentive: for every 20 hours overtime worked in each three week period over the next seven weeks they will give us a £50 high street voucher! Alongside being paid of course. Which is apparently paid at time and a half but considering I'm salaried, I have no idea how much this will work out as.

So, I've put in for an additional 8 hours a week over the next 7 weeks, which will lead to 84 hours extra pay (adjusted for the time and a half) and £100 in high street vouchers. So that'll be Christmas sorted and some extra pennies to pay off the debt! Should have a running start going into the new year at this rate. Come on!
