Fed up with TalkTalk

Options
Hi,

I've been literally pulling my hair out due to the appalling service from TalkTalk. I feel as though I've been pushed from pillar to post by them, and their general attitude towards this situation sucks. I'm on a Fibre Medium package, and the wireless internet is absolutely dreadful, I'm getting ping between 20-30 and 10-20 fluctuating downloads speeds, it never stays consistent and I think it's unfair that TalkTalk are allowed to treat me so badly. They keep doing investigation on my line that show no faults on the line, I'm having to use my Three Uk mobile data to browse and download with and I'm on a very limited plan the gives me 4000Mb I've also been sent out a new router that has made no difference.

I use my internet to play video games with as well, there is a Nintendo game on the Wii U I've been playing called Splatoon, which host events call Splatfest and every time I go to play a battle with people online I will aggressively lag and then get a error message saying 'Connection unstable' then throw me off. I've never had this problem with Sky or Plusnet, so I can't understand why this is happening with TalkTalk.

Can someone please advise me what else I can do. Would it be best to leave my contract and switch with a more reliable provider? Thanks

TalkTalk are responsible for supplying your property with an internet connection only. Any wifi connections you have set up are your responsibility and nothing to do with your internet supplier, current or previous.

Wifi issues can be caused by interference with your neighbours wifi networks, interference from TV senders, interference from baby monitors, the physical construction of your property, the location of the wifi source.

The TalkTalk supplied router may have a weaker wifi signal that the routers from your previous internet providers or a neighbour may have recently set up an interfering wifi signal. You could always buy your own router and see if it is better.

There are many mobile apps available so you can see how many wifi networks are in your area so you can try and put yours on a less congested channel. Maybe you need to move your router to give your devices a better signal. If your wifi is still having issues stop using it and use cables or a mix of cables and homeplugs which will be interference free.

Stop complaining to TalkTalk about your wifi issues as it is nothing to do with them and they won't be able to help.

You can test via an ethernet cable direct to the master socket .
If its wifi and you have had a new router its 99% that its not an ISP problem but wifi poor signal .Are you able to use cable from router to your laptop ??
What wifi channel are you using how far away is the router have you tried repositioning it .

Do you know how to log in to router and get your connection stats .
