TESCO Beware cheap black rubber washing up gloves.

Options
I have found that the Tesco cheap black gloves in a blue packet, seem to deteriorate/dissolve/break down when used in hot soapy water.

I use ecover washing up liquid..

The tips of the fingers on the gloves become sticky and shiny and thinner and they leave black smudgy rubber marks on my plates...

I have returned the gloves for a refund, now I have to clean my plates with a solvent before I can use them again.

    they aren't washing up gloves.....

    and

"Rinse in clean water after use and allow to dry.
Avoid contact with petrol, paraffin, turpentine, corrosive chemicals and
    prolonged contact with grease"
  • Pretty much every other packet says "washing up gloves", those ones say 'Tough gloves for all your tough household jobs'

So you picked the wrong ones for washing up. In fact you've chosen more expensive ones for the wrong job.

Not tough enough to handle hot water, obviously. Well then, there should be a warning on the packet DO NOT USE FOR WASHING UP - These gloves will break down in hot water and leave toxic chemical residues on any surface they touch.

And while I'm here why don't supermarkets stock XL washing up gloves?

Oh come on, we live in enough of a nanny state already being treated like we should all be wrapped in cotton wool.

Why not just gloves labelled "Washing Up Gloves". Do you expect mittens, gardening gloves and ski gloves to also be labelled "Not suitable for washing up".

The stupidity of some people really scares me.

One expects a household "tough glove" "for all tough household jobs" to be able to cope with a bit of washing up. As these are not capable of coping with this seemingly simple task they should warn people. 'The man on the clapham omnibus' would expect these gloves to be able to cope with a bit of hot water and bubbles.

I use washing up gloves, they are always yellow or pink in colour. Never seen black ones and doubt I would want to wash dishes with them. Might use them for cleaning the litter tray though.

If they were cheap in the first place why even bother to return for a refund?

What did you get back? 19p?

This takes money saving to new heights!
