Sky Broadband continued drop out?

Options
Have had Sky Broadband for a number of years and have been satisfied but recently almost every dat the connection drops and I need to switch off and on the router to get going again.

This is very frustrating is this a known fault?

No it's not. I would suggest you get onto Sky if nothing has changed at your end.

Probably a fault with the router. I'd get Sky to replace it and see if that improves your connection.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I had a similar problem (am with Sky) a few months ago.

However, on checking with another machine, the problem appeared to be with my laptop.

My tech son had a look at things and found that, after an Explorer update, my laptop was switching it's wifi link off. Backdating the computer to before the upgrade, put things right, but allowing the upgrade, made the problem recur, so my updates are disabled and the problem has gone away.
  • I've had the same problem but Sky customer service has been inept in its attempts to restore - nearly a month now with little or no broadband
    I have climbed the mountain . . . . .
  • Call Sky, they will do some checks remotely and should send their engineer out. If he finds a line fault then BT Openreach will be sent.

I had 2 problems, line fault solved by Openreach, router fault only fixed when I pushed Sky to replace it.
  • Unfortunately talking to Sky customer service is like talking to a brick wall - its systems do not seem fit for purpose
    I have climbed the mountain . . . . .
