TalkTalk upgrade to Superpowered Fibre BB

Despite being just 0.2 kms from the Exchange, downloads have been getting slower and connections intermittent (as also for email). Since 11th Sept, it's got worse, hardly getting either now. Yet, the telephone voice at TT insists I'm getting 18Mb! And, yes, I did the prescribed fault finding. In the hope of improving their service, I decided I might as well upgrade from the standard Essentials BB package to Fibre Optic (on order now). To thank me for my 'loyalty,' for several years with TT, the voice waived the usual charge for: £170 router, £50 activation and £6.75 delivery. However, despite these inducements the total monthly charge will be £11 higher, and for an 18 month contract will total £678.60!!! Am I still being stung? Or, is this deal a standard offer?

£37 pm a standard price for Fibre and phone .
But you would find cheaper/ offers if you looked .
