Dont cancel. Sky will take care of everything for you. About a day after placing your sky order you will get an email from BT confirming they have been told you are leaving. This will be followed up with a letter.

Typically a switchover takes 2 weeks. When switching from BT they only require 14 days notice (30 if you cancel). Dont leave it as BT suggest. Get shut ASAP, 7/11 gives them another couple of months of payments at a pretty extortionate rate.

Yes but I am on an Annual Line Rental Saver which I have paid for upfront with rental until the 7/11, if I leave today I am losing 1 and a half months rental with BT.

Sky did tell me that I could stipulate a date for the changeover when I order online, is that the experience of other people ?

Then leave it till 2 weeks before 7/11.

They tend to tell you when the transfer will take place. It's possible that you could then phone them and ask for it to be a different date but I would just wait until nearer the time.

You may be right, I just didn't want to lose out on the offer at the moment. I would probably lose out about £20 on my line rental saver so I have to weigh that up against if the offers change I guess.
