    yes, you always do.

This isn't the case for all issuers.

Could you name one or two issuers who don't require PIN input before allowing for contactless use?

Unless cards are handed over at a branch, how do they know that the cards are in the right hands?

What evidence leads you to this understanding?

For example, Barclaycard do not require a chip and PIN transaction before allowing a contactless transaction (at least, in my experience - other cardholders' experience may be different).
  • If the retailer has up-to-date software and hardware there is actually no limit for contactless.

Apple Store is an example of this unlimited contactless.

Pret a Manger have a self-imposed contactss limit of £50.

The £30 (previously £20) is for those retailers who are using old hardware & software.

I hate places which don't accept contactless. C&P seems so slow!
  • Thanks for the info with my question.

    That's interesting GB
My only concern with it is that it seems a lot of retailers seem to work on the basis that if you pay by contact less you don't want/need a receipt😖

I have a Lloyds debit card which is contactless
I did wonder if you lost your card and someone else found it does that
not mean they could go into a shop and use it as I have not used mine yet
