hi,

yes i have used my tesco vouchers in exchange for hilton vouchers 3 times in the past. Found this great, however availaibility at chosen hotel can be limited and it is the normal bed and breakfast rate which can work out quite expensive.

I have just done this, off to Wales next weekend (hotel with pool so DD will be happy if/when it rains!) There was also midweek availability - we are going Sat to Tues. Found them helpful on the phone when you call to ask about availability. Like Holiday Inn they also accept kids up to age 18, so they either go free in your room ( just pay for breakfast for over 11s), or can have their own room for 50% of normal rate.

Not done it lately but have in the past.

Fantastic value, they don't treat you any differently not like some of the
uk holiday parks, had a really awful caravan once with the words DO NOT MOVE scrawled across the paperwork.

So how does it work then? I have wanted to use my vouchers for this in the past but when I looked into the terms and conditions they seemed very restrictive e.g. you couldnt book until 2 weeks beforehand, at which point availability was limited.

Any tips on which hotel chain is the best for using Tesco rewards?

I have used both Hilton and Marriott Hotels many times on Tesco clubcard deals and they are both great - a bit more of a faff with Hilton in getting vouchers though. You have to firstly order your tesco clubcard weekend vouchers then you have to send them away to a Hilton Hotel address in Glasgow (if I remember correctly!) and then they send back some Hilton Hotel vouchers which you hand in at reception on arrival. No problems though - staff very courteous and Hilton Hotels are usually very nice. We have interconnecting rooms for our 2 children as they are teenagers now and need their own space but as an earlier poster says, the 2nd room is at 50% discount if children are going in it so it's not too bad.

The tesco rate is for bed and breakfast and I would say that the Hilton breakfasts usually have the edge.... I think it's the freshly cooked waffles with maple syrup!!! :T

One other thing worth noting is that although the Tesco site advertises that the deals are for weekend breaks, Hilton have twice let me use them for midweek breaks - you just have to ask when you are onto their reservations team - some hotels will let you and some won't!! The best way to book these breaks is early though as I think they have an allocation of rooms for tesco purposes and once they are gone they are gone!! I generally try and book 4-6 months before and usually have no problem with getting in where I want to book.

I thoroughly recommend using tesco deals for these breaks - we have had some lovely short breaks/holidays for very little cash outlay (combining days out tokens & meals out tokens too!!) Can't be bad!! :T

4-6 months in advance? I am amazed. As I say, the hotel group I was looking at would not let you book until 2 weeks beforehand and it was all a bit late by then as there were no rooms left :mad:

Yes, its definitely true! Book as early as possible with both Hilton and Marriott (haven't really done any of the other chains). Like you say, it would be impossible to do it late on as there are no tesco allocated rooms left?!?
