Basic accounts?
If they are basic, you will get a cash card, and an account you can pay and withdraw money from.
If I have to pick, it would be nationwide. Barclays is too big and has its fingers in stuff, TSB is being taken over by the Spanish.0 -
They are changing there basic account to be contactless in November its called flexbasic0

stuff? what stuff?Barclays is too big and has its fingers in stuff,
more xenophobia. http://www.tsb.co.uk/sabadell-information/TSB is being taken over by the Spanish.
BTW, the acquisition by Sabadell has been completed, and we have since seen the introduction of the 5% contactless cashback.0 -
Well, a contactless card from Nationwide would be great...
I want an account that produces good, clear statements for a start that are easy to read- santanders were horrible. (sorry to sound snooty there)
Also, which of the banks has good customer service?
In terms of the future, when my credit file is better- would any of these banks be more likely to accept me for lending products like overdrafts and credit cards, based on how I have run the account?
I do have a full current account with RBS and TSB and SANTANDER but as I am bankrupt I thought I should stick to a basic account0 -

Barclays has been involved in various scandals and manipulations. Other big banks have as well.
I will continue to bank with TSB, for now. I am aware TSB is now owned by Sab. I would prefer to do business with a British bank.0 -
I would prefer to do business with a British bank.
But what's a british bank? Would one that has its HQ in Britain and is majority owned by russian oligarchs, chinese, indian and greek billionaires, and by international hedge funds etc count as british? Do the Board Directors have to be British? Are you seriously combing through the company accounts to determine their Britishness?
I would suggest that all that counts for a retail banking customer is that they have FSCS protection, and that they offer competitive accounts, backed by a CS organisation that speaks english without any strong accent.0 -

To be fair, Santander clearly show how much you've spent that month (since the account opening date), which I think its pretty nice.
My experience of nationwide has been good, never had any issues.0 -
Santander do have good in branch service from what I have experienced. I know its not important i just dont know what I should go for as im in a debt relief order so limited income anyway.0
