It's all very good being all social networky like Giffgaff but they don't offer many of the bread and butter functions of a current account.

I'm sure they could get their own sort code, join the LINK atm network and even offer counter services via the Post Office without significant investment.

I should think that counter services even third-party counter services are not even on the agenda of Fidor UK. I think that in the new Fintech banks Atom Bank will be most relevant for those like yourself who want a more complete banking service. But I should think they will have credit checks unlike Fidor UK. Nothing from them yet though apart from registering an interest. But again don't hold your breath while waiting for counter service.

Yet again you go off on a tangent on Post Office services

They can't even handle BACS credits such as wages and pensions - says it all really.

  • Should have read this forum first before having anything to do with them. Apart from what has been mentioned above, you have to scan your passport and send the file to them online. Apparently this is to comply with German regulatory requirements but, having given them every other bit of personal data possible already, this was a step too far for me.

It's probably just me but I couldn't see the point of the 'community' but you still have to register for it. No account number but you get to be part of a community. Seems they've misunderstood what a bank is there to do.

I know someone who opened one, no ID needed (15 year on electoral role?) but EE could not collect a DD as they did not recognise Fidor ??

My Fidor account which I opened for novelty value is next to useless and offers nothing that a Standard UK current account can't do, even basic accounts are better! I have plenty of accounts anyway. I refuse to send my passport as that's the last straw IMO and their security leaves a lot to be desired. For example just one password to log on etc.
