  • Put it this way... Without your mate being prepared to lend you the money you'd never have won. So I think the decent thing to do would be give them a bit of money or take them out for a meal/ day out/ something you know they'd enjoy.

Wouldn't your friend notice when you pull up at their house in your new Ferrari?

To be honest, if my friend didn't know I had won with the money borrowed then I'd keep it to myself.

A loan is a loan, that's all it is.

You borrowed, you paid back. What you did with the money you borrowed was up to you, nothing to do with your friend.

    The winnings are yours.
  • A bank lent me money to buy my house. I've repaid the bank but when I sold my house I made £200,000 profit, should I share some of the profit with my bank?

    Same scenario.

More than a year's salary is not a huge sum for most people, but offers a nice emergency fund. No need to share the news, or anything else.

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Are you crazy , stupid or both ? Perhaps you are if you borrow to gamble ...

It was your lucky day . Don't go looking for dogs to feed - they'll come to you !
  • Your friend was good enough to lend you the money, probably does not expect to share your winnings but I would have thought that a meal out would be a nice gesture.......

I'd share a tithe (tenth) so I can share the news.

Rather than having borrowed from a friend, suppose you had bought the ticket whilst you had an overdraft. Technically you would have bought it with money borrowed from the bank. Would you give the bank any of the winnings? Therein lies your answer.
