Friday 18th September - What small DFW things will you do today?

  • Hello! :D I made it to the weekend - finally. Another mad busy day at work, but I wouldn't expect anything else. The kicker today was the behaviour of my DS when I picked him up from school. He's strong willed at the best of times, and can be a complete nightmare when he's tired. Needless to say he's in bed now.
Dawn I've been using the MSE energy club for a couple of years and had never heard of FU until I came on here. I've just renewed with Eon through the collective switch. No complaints with them so far
Ally seems like it's decision made then eh? Good luck for Sunday - not that you need it at all.
And Ziggy - how is the new car?

:D mark extra exam papers Just about to start this once I'm done here
:[STRIKE]D do my massive stack of photocopying before I die underneath it[/STRIKE]finally
:D DS to football practice Nope - but that was entirely down to his bad behaviour
[STRIKE]:D check banking and PAD[/STRIKE] No PAD today - money is just too tight
    [STRIKE]:D 15 mins housework and declutter[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:D mark at least 1 set of books[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:D prepare all slides for the first two days next week[/STRIKE]

Fairly productive day in all - just wish I could get somewhere with my DS and his awful attitude at the moment.:(

    Hi Everyone

Another very busy day today. Took more in the first hour than all day on Monday OR Tuesday. Stayed bustling all day. The artist finally arrived, shes had some issues with the works she wanted to display so we'll be putting them up first thing in the morning!
I was told today that the cafe had been nominated for a Time Out Award, not sure for what! We did win one in 2012, & 2013 for being a family friendly location, so fingers crossed. Its customer nominated so thats a nice boost.

Dawn - I do intend to leave FU but as we were in arrears we couldnt. Now we are clear & I think just need to give 1 months notice? Thank you for the Ovo recommendation.

Ziggy - That is excting about your new car! I agree, give OH a little push on the garage rental, seems a no brainer really.

Ally - Wow in at the deep end then, sunday! Thank you for the good wishes, I hope so too. Im a bit scared both ways, its going to be long days if its dead, but I hope for a decent day, bit scary opening weekends when I dont know what passing trade is these days.

Ollie - Ha thats so funny!

Jono - Enjoy your shiny new spreadsheet! Happy pay day!

Twiggy - Enjoy your weekends fitness. Am sure OH will be back in no time.

ChcolateLover - Phew so glad to hear it, even though I dont know much about Bells I must say.

LegoMum - 59p is still a huge bargain compared to the ridiculous price a lot of them charge. I used to spend a fortunate on cards at Xmas pre light bulb moment. I would send a Gran card, a Mum card, a whatever whatever card, now they all get generic ones :)

    Good to see you Maria!

CCL - Hope your daughters birthday weekend is lovely. Enjoy it!

MMM - What will your blog be about? Let us know if its a cool one like Foxgloves :)

    Small things I have managed:

    1) Realised my sons school coat had fallen out of our paniers, and headed back on a rescue mission. Its getting a little to short in the arm anyway but damned if Im buying a new one yet!

    2) Have organinsed all the weekend class stuff for the boys so they literally cannot fail to attend the right things at the right times with the right money. In cash.

    3) Have a big tips pot to count out in the morning, I havent touched it since wednesday and its looking nice :)

    4) Have checked business banking & paid 50% of my energy bill. Will do the rest either this weekend depending on takings or Monday.

    5) Checked our banking so no surprises.

    6) Got supplies in so there are lunchbox items for the boys to make a lunch to take out tommorow. Will drill OH so he remembers!

    7) No heating on yet (as per Ollies pic)

    8) Dinner tonight is the mince meat left from the pack I cooked yesterday, will do us some fresh pasta to go with it. Grate cheese. Thats about my level tonight :)

    9) Load 2 reciepts to Checkoutsmart/Quidco

    10) Layout sons weekend homework on the table so it doesnt get forgotten.

    See you tommorow all.

 Yes, they do. MSE's use of the name 'club' is a bit misleading, it's more of a service. You do an energy comparison and switch to a cheaper company (if you want to). Then every month you get an email telling you whether you are still on the cheapest service. (Link)

  • Hi all

Better late than never I suppose! Been a bit of a week. Great news on the job Ally and I am keeping everything crossed for a busy weekend for you Bob.

The joiner left us some timber after he finished working on the kitchen so OH has been sawing it into small pieces and I have been stacking it in the woodshed to go in our woodburning stove. I am quite worried about the heating situation this winter as we have oil heating which is very expensive.

I have got a 20% off voucher for M&S which will be handy as DS needs another pair of school trousers. Just wondering if I can justify spending money on some more thermal tops.
  • Oh, I cant use the voucher against schoolwear. Mmmm, sums up my week really!
  • Resisting the urge to buy a takeaway, used the cottage pie I put in the freezer a few weeks ago!
  • DNMS Thank you for starting us off. I hope you manage to get in touch with your dd.

Bob Well done on a busy day, I hope you have steady trade over the weekend & congratulations on being nominated for an award

Ziggy Good news about the car.

Ollie Your picture made me smile.

Ally Wow, what a shock about your job, good luck for Sunday and also good luck to your OH for her interview next week.

Chocolatelover Good news about your brother.

CCL Have a lovely weekend celebrating your DD birthday.
