Hi Helena, thank you for your reply.

Please could you provide me with an idea of the off-peak hours?

    Thank you

    Amanda

    You're very welcome Amandajs11 :)

I think footyguy has given all the info we need, so thanks :D

I can of course give you the actual off peak time for your specific meter, just drop me an email with your account number, name and full address and reply from there.

    Thank you :)

  • Hi,
I applied for the recent collective (3rd sep) switch to Eon. Received welcome letter from Eon with all details etc. All fine...

Today I phoned Eon who said I now couldn't switch as the collective switch was only for single meters , this is despite them giving me the economy 10 rates before and during my application....

Anyone else had this problem from Eon?
    thanks!

    Hi brotherjackson,

This is a bit odd, the collective tariff is only for single or E7 meters. We aren't able to change any customers on to this with any sort of complex metering set up.

What rates were you given and by who? I think it does say when you go through the cheap energy club to state what sort of meter you have and gives a bit of info about this.

Due to the complex nature of these sorts of meters, we only have the one E10 tariff available and this would be the one we'd have to bill you on.

I'm really sorry though, as there appears to some miss information somewhere along the line. If you can let me know about where you got the E10 rates from I can ensure to get this looked at and corrected.

    Thank you

    Helena :)

    Hi brotherjackson

It sounds like you may have selected that you have Economy 7 when you registered for energy club. As mentioned above the collective tariff was not available for Economy 10 (in fact your can't actually switch Economy 10 tariffs through Cheap Energy Club).

For more on switching with Economy 10, take a look at the guide below.

    Thanks
  • Thanks for your reply Helena.
When switching I put in all my current rates including the off peak meter rate.
Maybe the problem was with the switching service rather than yourself as it knew I was on a dual meter and asks for both rates,
    then says I could switch?
I looked up your rates online which were cheaper than what I was paying (scottish power).

Is it still possible to switch to Eon with a dual meter?

As Dan said above, it looks like you may have clicked Economy 7 somewhere here, as the cheap energy club doesn't switch E10 meters.

Yes, of course you can change to us with an E10 meter, however, we don't put these rates on the website, so think there's maybe the chance you've looked at the wrong thing.

For us to quote you properly on E10 you'd need to ring and speak to our sales department, numbers on the website.

    Thanks

    Helena :)

What current tariff are you on with Scottish Power?

If you are on one of their E7 tariffs with appropriate metering, you should be able to switch to any other supplier that supports E7.
If you really want Eon, I understand they will even support you on a single rate tariff despite having an E7 meter if that is what you prefer.

Unfortunately, applications for the MSE collective switch tariff have now closed.

If however you have a legacy tariff from Scottish Power (e.g. E10, ComfortPlus, etc) with the associated metering, then I would urge you not to attempt to change supplier with that metering. Attempts to do so invariably end in tears.

You could ask Scottish Power to change the metering for you (charges may apply) and then you could switch to any supplier. But I would usrge to to first seek expert avice on this, as it amy involve rewiring of your home and/or different appliances (all of which you will need to arrange and fund yourself)
  • Hi footyguy,
Thanks for the info. Currently on their standard tariff.
    (per kWh)=16p day, 7.4p night, 7p control.

    I dont think I have a legacy tariff (?)

All Im running is a storage heater from the control meter- nothing else is connected to it apart from hot water which I dont use.
I only put storage on in winter, but its essential.
If rewiring the storage heater into the normal meter was an option I could do that, but I dont know if it is?
Im sure I can control the timing on the storage heater, but would have to check. Dont know if the meter controls that or not.

Well I would beg to differ on that ;)

As you have 3 different unit rates involved in your tariff, you obviously do not have a single rate or E7 (dual rate) tariff.

It is known as standard tariff as most suppliers only have that one tariff to support such legacy customers.
  • Thank you so much for your replies :T and really helpful information. I'm on Economy 10 so will email you directly Helena.

    Thanks again
