Strange e-mail from E-on - 'You've got mail‏'

Has anybody else got this: 'You've got mail Dear xxxx

Thanks for letting us know you'd like us to send you information by email.

I don't use E-on and I'm with Sainbury's Energy!

No idea how they have my details or why they think I want e-mail from them!

Anyone else got this - doesn't look like a phishing mail, but a bit baffled why they think I'm a customer!

I’ve just got one tonight, was a customer with E-on over 3 years ago now, not sure why they haven’t removed my account details, will probably get a bill from them next. :eek:

Not a phishing Email as they used a unique Email address I gave them.
Guess they screwed up.

I have received one of these tonight as well. Emailed my current supplier to make sure that there are no requests on my account to move my supply and, if there is, to cancel the request immediately

Me too - looked a bit dodgy so just binned it - haven't been a customer of Eon for about 3 years. If you already had paperless billing as I used to, then nothing referred to in the e mail is an improvement, so I left the 'Visit our Website' link under 'what if I change my mind heading' well alone.

There are 3 references to direct debit , payment, and not having paid, which isn't really how a large utility should project themselves, so if it is genuine then it's rude, and if it isn't genuine is dodgy.

Yup - I received one of these emails yesterday. I switched from EON about 3 years ago. Someone in EON needs to get their act together.

I switched from EON to Scottish Power, based on cost.
I have to say, I found EON to be pretty good on customer support - especially their telephone service. You can get through and talk to someone fairly quickly. I've found the Scottish Power customer website to be not quite as good and comprehensive as EON. However, I've not had any problems so far.
