South mins parking eye fine

I drove a friend to south mimms service station to pick up her van as she had broken down. It was late at night , pitch black. I waited with her until the recovery truck arrived. I have received a parking fine of £100 from parking eye . I stayed 30 minutes over the allowed 2 hours. I emailed them with a copy of my blue badge which I have and explained that I saw no signs as it was pitch black and a lady friend on her own had broken down and I didn't want to leave her there alone. They have written to me saying I need to prove I purchased something at South mimms. The only phone number is one to pay the fine. No mention of my blue badge . Help... £100 for helping a lady that had broken down

    It's not a f- - -. We don't use that word here:-)

    It's an unenforceable speculative invoice.

Get straight to the Newbies Stickies and read there, steadily and more than once,

There's a lot to absorb. It's a complete toolbox for you to see these lowlifes off. parkinglie love to do this sort of thing, especially at motorway service areas and bully people like you into paying.

DO NOT PHONE THEM. Write, after you've shown us a draft and that only when you've done some reading. Always obtain and keep a cert. of posting from the PO when you send them letters.

the blue badge isnt relevant on private land so no idea why you are bringing it up, sorry to say

read the NEWBIES sticky thread and appeal this in the usual manner , which will include this poorly lit or unlit signage as well as not a gpeol , no contract etc

also complain to the MSA and insist that they tell PE to cancel the charge

DON'T phone ParkingEye. If they've not yet actually rejected the appeal, just ignore that letter unless your friend can provide evidence of purchases there (e.g. petrol) and/or can she provide evidence of the breakdown to assist you? Services have a policy to cancel PCNs where there is a breakdown situation and you could have asked for more time because of it.

Now - contact the Manager at the Services by phone or email, to see if they will tell PE to cancel. DO NOT phone PE! Try WB now:

If that doesn't work, come back here when PE issue you with a 'POPLA' code for independent appeal and DO NOT just do the appeal to POPLA without advice (you WILL LOSE if you do a POPLA appeal about the 'story of what happened'). You will win a POPLA appeal with our help.

Although it is a breach of the BPA AOS Code of Practice to issue tickets to vehicles displaying them (where there are disabled bays present at the facility - regardless of whether the OP was parked in one).

    Was it on display?

Not that their ANPR cameras are capable of picking this up, but after you informed them of the presence of a blue badge they really ought to have retracted the ticket.

True - hopefully South Mimms will cancel the ticket if the OP insists on speaking to the Site Manager.

Since when did you have to prove you purchased anything at a motorway service area, what about taking a break as advised on numerous signs installed by the Highways Agency.
Another Parking Lie hidden, scamming clause, where should you leave a broken down vehicle, in the outside lane?

As they did not, should OP not complain to the BPA?
