Our 4.5 tog duvet went away last weekend to be replaced with the 9 tog one.
There is the option of press-studding them together to make a 13.5 tog duvet but we find it feels far too heavy and only use them together when it's REALLY cold.0 -
Both using 4.5 Tog duvets atm (we have separate single ones) but I've got a fleecy blanket to put on top of mine if it's chilly at bedtime, then when I have a hot flush in the night I take the blanket off
When it really gets colder we'll have our 9.5 Tog ones on.
I can put my 4.5 + 9.5 ones together with poppers if necessary but have only needed to do that a few times in the 5 years I've had these. The last time was in the winter of 2012 I think.0 -
We don't change over till November-ish, then it's only to a 7.5 tog. I could stick with a 4.5 all year round, but OH can't. He sometimes has a fleece blanket on as well, but I never do.0

I'm still using my 4.5 tog duvet and sleep with the windows open unless it's really windy. During the winter, I now prefer to use my summer duvet and just add some blankets if it's cold.
I hate being too hot when trying to get to sleep....much rather warm up with a few layers than be too hot and have to kick the duvet on and off all night ShazzaGray

4.5 tog came off this week and 9 tog went on.
Ours are also the ones with poppers so we will have them both together for winter.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
swapping to winter duvet too this weekend. cardigans out already. still keep windows open for a few hours during the day. no heating has been put on as yet. resisting the urge, as once I put it on it tends to be constantly put on!! waiting for first Saturday in October to update my winter wardrobe at the jumble sale!! xx0

We use 4.5 tog year around too with a blanket if needed. In the really hot weather we use an empty duvet cover0

I dont bother taking the winter one off, i just lay in top of it, under a summer quilt.
So i kind of use it like a comfy sheet. Lazy!
But i have now started using it. Like you, i am feeling cold in the mornings now.0 -
I only have one duvet...no idea what tog it is lol, DH has owned it since before we met! We both hate being too warm at night and tend to have the window open most of the year (DH would have it every night, but I have a firm rule if there's actually snow on the ground I get to shut it lol!).
We don't wear pyjamas to bed either (even in the depths of winter - well I would stick a t-shoirt on if DH was away for the night and I was cold, but never when we're both there) as would both be far too warm. I'm actually only just now thinking our duvet probably is a winter one and this is why we're so toasty at night most of the time...
TBH when I was growing up we also only had one duvet for the whole year so it's never occurred to me to get a lighter summer one and swap them over.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
