True, and to be honest that is my concern. I've never had fibre optic before so as long as I see an increase from 3mb/s then i'll be happy.

Oh i'm sure you'll get a lot more than that, don't worry. Just don't bank on getting anything close to what they said is my experience. And what really effs me right off is their competitor gave me a superior service before i moved on the SAME PRODUCT.

ps- all i got was 2/2.5 Mb beofre i went to fibre so you're fairly similar to what i was on.
  • On broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk there is an option to see what speeds have been registered in your area - have you looked at something like this?

I recently upgraded to BT Infinity (not yet started but due at the beginning of next month). Over the phone their representative told myself that I was to expect speeds of a guaranteed minimum of 35mb/s and that should be actually around the 39 - 40 mb/s speed. could this be because of the area I live in?

Depends upon the cable from your house to the cabinet and also your internal wiring .
Speeds are an estimate as a test .35-38 is probably the average on the six properties i know of with fibre through BT Openreach .Personally i have 34- 37 on speed tests with Plusnet and the same with BT infinity 1 .

Yeah thanks used that before. Thing is, geography is quite deceptive when it comes to cabinets. For example, a couple of houses close to me get 22 and 32 but they're actually not even in my estate and all houses in my estate are another cabinet from the exchange.

Something wrong if your IP Profile keeps changing .

    thanks!

3 different range of acceptable speeds and ip profiles in the last 5 days. Really be glad when i get rid off this crew.

The lower end of the acceptable speed range 5 days ago is now close to what the higher end is now. Gotta laugh at BT because if you didn't you would seriously crack up!!!
