Toby Carvery Whitchurch

And, the veggie has a field day - with all the veg you can eat!
I been to two Tobys this one in Whitchurch Cardiff, it has a Motel attached, only about half a mile from the M4; and one in Borehamwood Herts.
Standard format, either get drinks first then a table, or the waitress will show to your table and order the drinks, once there arrive - leave them on the table and join the queue for the carvery.
The Whitchurch one is easy to get to (only a short distance away from me), plenty of car parking space - though it can get packed, sometimes have to queue to get a table - so they must be doing something right. It's a place with plenty of character.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -

How long ago was that?
I had two of those big yorkies in another carvery a few months back....minging they were. I was very disappointed. All fluff/air and no joy.you go and get your own top ups on the unlimited soft drinks)
So you go in, get one drink, one meal, eat and leave.
I like the idea of carveries....but, alone, most dining out is a challenge.0 -

I agree with you on that one.

Just wonder why the opp went to a carvery with mainly veggies?
Plus why not ask for more meat from the person doing the carving?0 -

I just remembered I was in wetherspoons the other day.
And there was a bloke on his own. And I can't remember what he did but he put something on his pint glass so that staff and other customers would realise not to take the drink and the table was in use.
But I can't remember what it was. Was it a book?

Probably horse meat anyway, wouldn't eat there if you paid me.0

Although I accept its probably hard to spot horse meat when minced and mixed up with beef in a lasagne. I would suggest it's quite easy to spot horsemeat if it's in joint form at a Toby carvery.
It would certainly be impressive if they could cook horsemeat in a way that it looks like ham or chicken!0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »That was the other flaw (and is a major flaw at a lot of places), you can't leave the table to get another drink else the table might be cleared as they assume you've left. Or, if busy, other people sit down and wait for the table to be cleared (again, assuming you've left).
So you go in, get one drink, one meal, eat and leave.

Take a coat and leave it on your chair.0
