Virgin Broadband Confusion

Options
Hi All,

I'm a little confused with my Virgin account - will phone them later but would appreciate some advice.

I am a broadband and phone line only customer. I was invited to 'boost' my connection to 50mb, and did so in May of this year. I had an email from them saying that they would contact me in 48 hours to confirm cost of new package, I never recieved this contact.

I have since had a £7 line rental discount expire - I note that my package details on my account say 50mb broadband.

Would I have been re-committed to a new contract in May? If so where are the details of this contract held? I had no contact about cost or contract length and can find no reference to this on my account online.

Any help on this matter would be most appreciated.

Ian..

I think you would have to ask them, it depends what they changed on your package. The upgrade in speed might have just been to move you from an old package that no longer exists. Did they replace any equipment, or was it just a straight speed increase ?

if there was no equipment change, its possible that no new contract was actually formed.
  • Hi, thanks for replying.

No new equipment, not even a confirmation email other than the automated one stating that I would be contacted in 48 hours.

Will talk to them later when I'm home..

It looks like the basic speeds were going up which shouldn't mean you're on a new contract for it.

IIRC 50mb is or was the lowest speed they provided after about May (and it looks like it may be going to 100mb as the new one starting soon).
  • Hi,

You were both right! Spoke to them and I was out of commitment, so have recommitted for less than I was paying previously.

    Thanks for your help,

    Ian..
