You should also write to the PPC and inform them that they are equally responsible for the actions of their agents, (DRP).

OK, so a belated update. I've seen the DRP letter and at no point did it mention what 'debt' they were trying to collect. After 2 hours worth of phone calls ( by the person not me ) it transpires that it was connected to a rental flat he owned in 2013 and that the tenant at the time had failed to pay the council tax.

Brighton and Hove Council had finally tracked down the person as the owner ( not sure they've heard of the Land Registry but at the time we did have rather an idiotic Green council - let that be a warning to voters ! ). Instead of contacting said owner they passed the debt and his details to DRP. The person automatically assumed, understandably, that it was to do with all the DRP letters he had about his private parking invoice.

Of course the council are now aware that the owner was not responsible for the debt.

So we have an incompetent council and an idiot DCA who can't be bothered to actually mention what the debt is - a toxic combination !!!!

Anyway, should any Newbie stumble across this thread, debt collection agencies attempting to collect private parking invoices DO NOT call at your door.
