It could be your personality or the way you present yourself that stops people from hiring you. Of course, you wouldn't realise that yourself.

    Have you considered an apprenticeship?

If you were in prison that could easily be the reason you aren't getting work.
Hi, I'm 25 years old a bit too old for an apprenticeship

I never really believed in this but I know someone who sent an email with a CV to 15-20 companies she wanted to work for when looking for a job. Emails and CV tailored to the job slightly.

4 phone calls, 3 interviews and 2 job offers (both part time but jobs none the less).

I also managed to get a job with a company once through someone I knew. The job had not been posted anywhere so it was only known because I knew someone who knew someone.

Added to that, I am looking for staff (needs to have industry qualifications) and I have not really posted it anywhere, I have just put feelers out through people I know.

My point (after all the rambling) is basically just send in CVs to people, you might hear back, you might not but being proactive and the only person applying might increase your chances.

You're not too old for an apprenticeship- I graduated in June with an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care at the age of 34 and two of the ladies who I worked with and also gained theirs were in their 40's. At my graduation there were plenty older than 25 collecting apprenticeships. Not too old at all.
