Broadband deals?

Options
I have just moved house, i have had to sign up to BT for my line rental for 12 month contract. £11 a month. I need to find a broadband supplier and get free evening and weekend calls. I am looking to pay no more than £12 for these. In total no more than £23 a month. Surely it is possible.

I need 2mb connection and at least 4gb downloads

NB I cant signup for Talktalk(used to be with them at old property) cos i would have to pay BT £70, Also sky's free broadband i cannot get in my area.

Many thanks

Virgin were offering 2MB Broadband £10/month for 1 year. Then I suggest you use 18185 for all phone calls, once call is connected for about 5p you can talk endlessly at no extra cost to all 01 & 02 numbers, the rest being highly competitive eg 6p/min at any time to mobiles.
  • not in a cable area
  • Get back to Talktalk a.s.a.p. they are absolutely 100% value for money. Sign up to BT for the landline and then switch. Lots of moans about tt but I have found them for the last 18 months to be excellent.

    Virgin Media for non-cabled areas.

£14.99 per month for up to 8Mbit broadband.

    Inclusive evening and weekend calls.

You keep your line rental with BT, 1) as you are stuck with them for 12 months and 2) you shouldn't move your line rental away from BT - never a wise move.

Use Virgin only for the inclusive evening and weekend calls.

Sign up to Call 18185 and use them for daytime landline calls 5p per call and calls to mobiles (3p/min weekends and 6p/min weekdays) and international calls from 0.5p/min.

Virgin Media are very expensive for calls outside the 'free' ones, so you may want to put some calls back over BT - simply dial 1280 before the call.

If you make a lot of calls to 01 / 02 landlines during the day then they also offer 24/7 inclusive calls and broadband for £19.99 / month.

Also Virgin Media is blocking calls to the 0800 access number for 18185 so I gather. So again, keep BT line.

Yes indeed, if you have a BT line, never give it up for another line rental provider.

At the moment Virgin Media in non-cabled areas don't offer line rental, so if you go with Virgin Media in non-cabled areas you have to have BT as the line rental provider, which is what you want anyway.

As with their CPS service your line rental remains with BT, you can still place calls via BT and use the indirect code 18185 for Call 18185.

If they later offer line rental too, you need to say no thanks!
