I followed Martin Lewis's advise and tried to switch Bank Accounts for people always in overdraft I tried to switch from Nationwide to First Direct ( Martins advise) I have a GOOD credit file at Equifax 438 pints (above average) and still was declined by First Direct which will leave another bad trail on credit file.....Martin Lewis makes it seem as if switching bank Accounts is an automatic "right" he seems to "encourage" people to switch without full info if one is not accepted. If he has then I cant find it !!!!!!!
Is he on commission from various banks/ institutes (BBC?)
I think he thinks everyone is a millionaire like perhaps he is?
Now im in a worst place thanks to his "Advise"!

The points system used by Equifax and Experian means nothing. People with top ratings have been declined credit as its a narrow measure only.was declined by First Direct which will leave another bad trail on credit file....
First Direct cherry pick. You may not have been declined on your credit record but because you don't fit their ideal target customer.Martin Lewis makes it seem as if switching bank Accounts is an automatic "right" he seems to "encourage" people to switch without full info if one is not accepted. You are within your rights to choose your bank account provider. Just as the bank is within its rights to choose not to offer services to you.Now im in a worst place thanks to his "Advise"!
He doesnt give "advice". He is not a financial adviser. He is a journalist.

Your post makes no sense at all, especially the overdraft bit. Immediately above the FD link in this article...

...are these words...These are the right accounts to switch to if...
...you're always in credit
...you don't have enough spare cash to make use of the interest-paying accounts above
...you want quick-ish cash for something
These are the wrong accounts to switch to if...
...you're regularly overdrawn
...you don't want to fully switch, by using the switching service
...you can't meet the minimum pay-ins required0 -
Martin Lewis did not give you advise. You need to think a whole lot more and a whole lot smarter.0

f you've decided that you do want to switch accounts to make your overdraft cheaper, then there are two top picks below:
These are the right accounts to switch to if...
...you're regularly or always overdrawn
These are the wrong accounts to switch to if...
...you're always in credit
Club Lloyds Bank Account
£250 0% overdraft, plus free £150 when you switch to the account
FIRST DIRECT*0 -

First Direct is quite picky and I'd be surprised if they wanted to take on new customers who are constantly using their overdraft facility.
I guess switching to First Direct if you're a customer like that seems good in practice, but the reality is different.
You mentioned "...declined by First Direct which will leave another bad trail on credit file...". That suggests there's other "bad" stuff on your credit report. One search alone won't make much difference.0 -
It's pretty clear that if you are constantly in your overdraft then you're unlikely to be accepted:
"If you just dip in and out of your overdraft, the First Direct* account should cover you for free, as it has a £250 0% overdraft."0 -

So, for you to think a whole lot more and a whole lot smarter, an easy way to remember it is that a vice (or even just vice) is a noun, and can't be used as a verb.
It's a good way of remembering the much more commonly confused practise (verb) and practice.0
