Faultless insurance Record ruined!!
Comments

You misunderstand the way the word "fault" is being used.
"Fault" is used by insurers to indicate that they have paid out on your claim. When they are reimbursed in full your "fault" claim will become "non fault"
It has nothing to do with "blame"!
(You need to be pursuing the third party to get back your excess plus any other uninsured losses you experienced)
(You say you have another policy - if it's a motor policy then that insurer needs to be informed about the claim you are discussing in this thread)0 -
Many thanks Quentin0

But how did this action by your neighbour contribute to the incident and narrow the roadway?0 -
You also misunderstand the word 'agent'.Snowedunder wrote: »As I understand it my 'contract' is with the person to whom I make payment for a service which they supply. We are told time and again that the law states that the original provider of the service is not the person to contact in the case of a complaint, rather the person to whom we paid the money, and this is why my only contact was with the Agent who made no attempt to keep me informed, or even reply to my correspondence.
This agent you keep on about, is he your agent or the insurance company's agent?
The answer to that would help decide who you should look to for a remedy.0 -
Is that one of those "Yes, Minister" irregular verbs?Snowedunder wrote: »I cancelled not in a fit of pique but because I was utterly disgusted
I am utterly disgusted.
You are having a fit of pique.
He/she is throwing a tantrum fit only for an over-tired, spoiled two-year-old.0 -

Unfortunately your understanding is wrong.
The people who take your renewal money are just agents for the insurance company, and just like the sales side of it, insurance companies farm out the claims handling to another company or agent. These were the people who contacted you.
Contacting your insurance broker for updates no doubt had them telling you contact the claims company, but i suspect you didnt accept that.
Also, when you say "correspondence", please tell me at very least you were emailing them, and this wasnt letters you were writing?
Insurance has moved on dramatically in the last 20 years. People are extremely price focused and slimmed down sales focused service is unfortunately what has resulted.
Unfortunately "cancelling" the policy will have done nothing other than made the situation more difficult for you, not them, and with regards to your broker and your next renewal, if you dont renew with them, frankly they wont care.
That sadly, is the way of the world these days.0 -

I am female and I guess I am still very much in a 'mans' world'.
I just wanted to let you know, I thought you was a man until you mentioned you was a woman in the above post, so I don't think the previous replies you got were anything to do with you being a woman and it being a 'mans world'.0 -
I don't think anybody's gender has anything to do with anything, does it?0
