I WANT TO DO THIS NVQ I AM ALREADY VOLUNTEERING BUT I ONLY WORK 17 HOURS OCCASIONALLY I DO OVERTIME I CAN'T AFFORD THESE FEES

How old are you? Is this your first NVQ?Fees and Concessions - your questions answered
Courses will normally be free (attract fee remission) for: (Students do not pay for tuition, exam or registration fees)*- All students, including asylum seekers, aged 16 - 18 on the 31st August 2007
- Asylum seekers in receipt of the equivalent of income-based benefit, and their dependants
- Refugees, if unemployed and in receipt of income-based benefit
- All students on Skills for Life courses in literacy and numeracy
- All designated Family Learning Programmes
- Any student on an entry Level Programnme
- Any student who started a two year course in 2006-07 who is returning for the second year.
- Any student in receipt of means tested benefit:
- Unemployed and in receipt of Job Seeker's Allowance or
income-based benefits
- An unwaged dependant of someone in receipt of one
of the above benefits
- In receipt of Working Tax Credit (with a household income
of less than £15,050)
- In receipt of Pension Credits - Any student in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Incapacity Benefit
Tuition will be free (attract fee remission) for: (Students do not pay for tuition, but must pay exam and/or registration fees)- People aged 19 or over studying for their first full level 2 qualification (eg 5 GCSEs, an NVQ 2 programme)
- People aged 19 - 25 studying for their first full Level 3 qualification (eg 2 or more A levels, an NVQ 3 programme)
- People aged 25 or over studying for their first full Level 3 qualification who do not have a full Level 2 qualification (eg 5 GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent)
You will normally have to pay fees if: (Students pay for tuition, exam and registration fees)- You are over 19 on the 31st August 2007, not in receipt of benefits and not studying for a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification
- You are studying ESOL and are employed
- You are progressing from one college course to a new course
- You are an international student
- You are aged over 60 and studying on a LSC-funded course; however, you will receive a 50% subsidy on tuition fees, and will have to pay exam and / or registration fees
- Free for people who are unemployed or in receipt of income-based benefits
- 50p per hour for learners over 60, retired and disabled people
- £1.85 per hour for all other learners
Courses funded by the European Social Fund and other project funding
From time to time additional funding will make some courses funded by European Social Funds and other project funding free for people who live in specified postcode areas and meet project eligibility criteria for the timescale of the project.

Which level are you going to study and what previous qualifications do you have? Are you claiming any benefits or working tax credits?
There are also a number of charities who support fees.
Your best bet is to contact the College you hope to study at and speak to their Student Advisor for welfare/funding for advice.0 -
