Have you left your empty trolley unattended whilst perusing goods? Has some be switched trolleys? That could be the only explanation but a rare occurrence indeed and probably you're own fault for leaving an empty trolley unattended :rotfl:

It's me. I get fed up with people thinking they can leave their trolleys here, there and everywhere.... so I whip their coins when they're not minding what they're doing.

The mechanism gets worn and the coin can be pulled out with a pair of pliers.
  • I put my £1 coin in my trolley to remove it from the trolley park and retrieve the exact same £1 coin when I return it. Unless someone offers me £1 to take my trolley from where I'm parked, thus saving me a journey to return it.

But from now on, I'll also be on the lookout for opportunist thieves armed with pliers! A new crime I never knew existed until tonight!

I never use a pound coin. They'd be pretty miffed to get my Cancer Charity trolley token.

Nor me. I use a 1 Euro coin. Any thief is only getting 73p out of me.

The moral of the OP's story is: don't leave your trolley unattended.
  • Btw, OP, The Onion isn't the "dark web"

Now, YouTuber Onision (aka "Onion"), oth, is definitely worthy of being sent to the dark web :)
