You can do it there and then - code is emailed to you. However, worth doing in advance (although only valid for a limited time) so you know it's done.0 -
I hired from Northgate recently (if you have one!), great service, new van and only £37 for the day! It was a weekday - not sure if that makes it cheaper. And yes, had to go on to the dvla site to get the code they need. When you hire they do tell you that it's needed - at least they do online
