Can I buy a new Sky+ HD box from ebay?

    I got my current Sky HD+ box via freegle; there was no problem whatsoever in getting it paired; that was a few years back now. Sky say the box is yours, not on lease from them.

    I've also got one of the non-recording extension ones, which I just use as a freesat box, with no viewing card; Sky don't even need to know about that one; it runs independently of a separate LNB in my Sky dish.

    When Sky supply a box it's never on lease, you own it.... this means that Sky only have to give a 1 year guarantee rather than unlimited free service calls to that box.....however they often do give free calls and replacement boxes when a customer threatens to leave.

    Sure; the context of my point was that you don't have to acquire it from Sky (as indeed I didn't).
