  • I met my OH on Guardian Soulmates, been together three years and getting married in March :)

I found the free websites pretty rubbish tbh.

Same here... Didn't have much luck with free websites but did with Guardian soulmates. We're about to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary.

I met my ex through online dating, we were friends for years before we got together. We were together for four years, engaged for about a year and a half but had been friends for six years before we got together and stayed friends for a good few years after we split until I lost touch with him a few years ago. We were good friends and loved each other to bits but he had issues that weren't anyone's fault really. I miss him loads and we might have broke up but our relationship definitely was successful while it lasted. It was so long ago when we met that I can't even remember which website it was- I was eighteen so it would have been in the earlier days of online dating.

Still early days but I met my bf online (on POF!)6 months ago and he is honestly just wonderful and meeting him is by far the best thing that's ever happened to me! I've had failed relationships from online dating too, but I have a strong feeling this one is a keeper :p

  • Go for it. Take sensible precautions just as you would when meeting someone in a different situation. Follow the advice given for safe meets on the dating site.

Ten years ago this week I decided to do just this, ten years down line I have no regrets whatsover. We have spent almost every day together, married five years ago. Who knows what the future holds!!

Thanks for your advice and stories everyone.

I've already had some funny inbox message from POF, and a few decent ones.

We'll see how it goes. Even if nothing comes of it, it'll be nice to have a few dates, hopefully.

Rather late in the day for this thread, but just to let you know I met my partner online 16 years ago; we're still happily together, not married (neither of us believe marriage is for us), along the lines of the old (very) Joannie Mitchell song, "We don't need no piece of paper from the City Hall, keepin' us tied and true, no". Just don't get in too deep too fast; take your time - Good Luck!

Not too late in the day at all, I love hearing the stories :)
  • Been married for 8 years to a man I met online, there were a few others that were potentials too. I wasn't even sure I liked him for the first few dates but he grew on me :D

Lots of one line messages from men who just wanted a one nighter - I wrote in my profile that I was looking for a relationship not a one nighter/friends with benefits. OH was one of the men I messaged myself as I decided to take matters into my own hands

  • Met hubby online, 7 or so years ago. Celebrated 4th wedding anniversary last week, and 2 daughters, pregnant with 3rd.
