Has anyone actually had a successful relationship through online dating?

I am thinking about trying out online dating and am wondering if there are actually any other decent people that use dating sites?
I am not going to be looking for Mr Perfect ( i certainly am not Mrs Perfect myself), but just to get back into the dating game?

Go for it, just like at a bar or wherever you filter out the none compatibles, I've met some good ones and some not so good ones (they probably think the same of me too). Some have net and are still together long after a wedding. You have nothing to lose and lot's to gain.0

Thanks DUTR

i think that i might give it a go. It's quite nerve wracking isn't it, putting yourself out there.0 -

Lots of my friends have met LT partners online (I'm in my mid 30s) and a few of my mum's friends have too (50s-60s age range).
I gave it a go but it was too soon after seperating from my partner, would defo have another go when I feel more ready
It can be nerve wracking and there are a few oddballs but also lots of nice normal people as well. Plus lots of free sites - very MSE
Good luck!0 -

I met my other half through online dating. There are some decent people out there. I went on dates with several people and they were all normal people. There are idiots on dating websites but you soon learn to identify and ignore them.
My main advice is not to spend too long chatting to someone because it's too easy to build up a false impression of someone. Don't make the first meeting a date as such. A quick coffee will help you to decide if you want to meet someone again.
Online dating allowed me to make friends with people I wouldn't normally encounter. It also gave me more confidence, as someone who can be a bit socially awkward.0 -
Yes, over 6 years in to a very happy relationship that started through POF
No plans for marriage or kids (neither fussed about it), but own a house together and as far as I'm concerned, he's "the one"
Did have a few duds beforehand though. Think the trick is to be confident in yourself - you're picking someone because you want to go out with them, not because you need to validate yourself with a partner (otherwise you may accept just about anyone!). Those after just a bit of rough and tumble tend to out themselves pretty quickly - they tend to be overly flirty and obvious about it, they were ditched pretty sharpish. OH intrigued me because one of the first things he asked about was my pet dogs, so wanted to get to know me and my interests (rather than my "interests"!)0
