married tax allowance

I am a stay at home housewife with no income. I have tried to give my husbands some of my tax allowance as now allowed by the government so we will be £200ish a year better off.
the online form at gov.co.uk wont work it doesnt recognize the bank details so I have rung the phone number provided several times. That recorded message keeps saying there is a minute waiting time. Its going to cost 12p a minute.
Is there any other way to register to claim this allowance ?

That doesnt sound right to me.
When we sorted it out you don't put any bank details in. All you put in is your names and national insurance numbers.
My first thought is you've found a dodgy scam site made to look like the proper one.0 -

HMRC do require verification of identity, which can be where pensions and benefits are paid or details from a P60. Where benefits etc are paid would be the applicant's bank account.

I'm really confused reading this! I recently looked into claiming Marriage Allowance, and I had to "register my interest" online, and HMRC said (in an automated email) they will contact me with a claim form when the scheme starts later this year!
I certainly wasn't asked for any bank details. I think I just had to put in our names and dates of birth.
ETA I can't see why bank details would be needed anyway, surely it would be taken off the tax paid by the partner who's the taxpayer?0 -

See my earlier post (#4). They ask for either details from a form P60 or the details of a bank account into which benefits are paid in order to verify identity. This information isn't required at the stage where you are simply registering your interest - it's at the application stage.0
