Hello Mr S, glad things are a little better. Our fridge is bare too. Have you noticed that the cost of groceries has gone up?

Yes, things do seem to have increased in price, you don't tend to notice until you are on a really tight budget do you, and then suddenly you start hearing yourself say 'That was 4p cheaper last week!!'.

I went to Tesco last week and spent £120 on well, nothing really! The fridge was still bare afterwards...

Gahhhhhhh.......just got our tax credits notification through and apparently they have overpaid us by £600 and they are stopping paying us with immediate effect.

OMG!
They are such a bunch of gits!!!!!
Now I'm worried the post coming...Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Stu's on the phone to them now - it looks as though they have got our income wrong by about £8000 for the last tax year (How??? I have updated them of every change!!).
They're going to send us a new pack out, which hopefully wont say they have overpaid us, but basically we wont get anything after April (other than the basic £45 a month or whatever it is) because we earn too much (yeah, Stu with his just-over-minimum-wage job and me with my 16 hours a week - we're really raking it in....).
Starting to wonder if there's any point going back to work now. I wont get any help with childcare costs at all apparently.
I just don't understand it."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I know what you mean, snaggles - we have NEVER got help with tax credits/childcare etc, regardless of hours/income or whatever.
It seems that whatever the rules.......they look at the current situation at the hypno household and use that as their "right, once you get to THIS situation, you get nowt in the way of help" guidelines........
And like you..........we are RAKING it in :rotfl: Always have been :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ahhh, so it's the Hypno/Snaggles rule. I'm so glad there's an explanation.
Honestly, I thought they would contribute about 80% towards childcare, but we will be paying £144 a month, and will get precisely zero, and unless my maths is failing me, I don't get that to *quite* 80%.
Right, going to stop moaning about this, because I have let it upset me too much, and crying over it isn't going to change matters. I'm sure we will find some way of coping....gulp. _pale_"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
*hugs Snags*
Right first thing, if the overpayment is correct, how much does this affect your budget by for the next how many weeks? So you can work to plug that gap.
Then the childcare, that seems ridiculous - you both work over 16 hours don't you? I'll find out what the top income level is for it and get back to you.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Thanks Gemmzie - luckily () I go back to work in 3 weeks, so it wont really impact on my budget THIS month. From April though I will be about £150 down on what I was expecting, but having said that, I don't really know exactly what salary I will get per month, so my budget for April was just going to be 'hope for the best'
. We've purposely left ourselves a couple of weeks ahead in our bills account, so can cover the basics, so we will just have to cut right back on shopping etc.
Thank goodness for a full freezer! And if nothing else, it will force me to get going with some more matched betting.
I'll see if I can find out the upper earnings limit for the childcare element too, because it really doesn't seem right."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
