EE projected BB speed

I'm looking at changing providers. Currently I'm with Sky and get 5.5 Mb down. EE has the best deal for my usage but their speed checker shows my max speed as 3 Mbs down.

Is there a possibility that EE will have lowered the download speed because of the cheap price?..or can i expect to get the same speed as with Sky?

Not only is there the raw line speed, but also the performance of their DNS, routers, and so-on; I moved from Sky to EE, and there was a noticeable performance degradation.

I signed up to a deal where it works out at something like a fiver a month, but I think my offer duration may have expired, so I'll probably move real soon - thanks for the nudge!

There is a hidden benefit of the EE deal, though - I get an extra 10 GB data allowance on my mobile, so that is a consideration; however, I've never used that much, so maybe not so great after all.

Speed estimates can be quite conservative.

I'm sure you will end up with 5.5 Mbps download after you switch.... but then again it is EE... :-)
