What you've done is a classic method used by fraudsters, ie send a small payment followed by a much larger one.
You'll find if the payment doesn't arrive later this evening it'll arrive tomorrow after further checks.0 -
ok thanks don't want any black markers etc... just wanted money in new account... can I ring tsb and sort it??0

It's usually the bank the money is coming from that blocks the payment. It should clear in a few hours.0

This has happened to me three times so far with TSB. The first time the payment went on hold for 'review'. They said to log back in to Internet banking within 24-48 hours (can't remember exact time period) where a message would be sat in my 'Inbox' waiting to approve the transfer, so I wouldn't assume it would go through. You can call through to their telephone banking service and they can put you through to the relevant department - they ask you questions from your credit report such as 'which of these addresses have you been associated with?’
The second time it happened it also locked my internet banking details. I called, was on the phone for 45 minutes to get it resolved (a lot of that was being held in a queue for a while), and they unlocked my account and 'reviewed' the payment so it was in my inbox. I couldn't then approve the payment for some reason, so I cancelled it and did it again, to find my account was again locked and I had to go through the exact same process again.
It isn't just new payees they do this to either. I was making regular large payments to my credit card and then randomly one month they marked the payment for 'review'.
Their security measures do feel a little overzealous, but I guess they are there for our protection. The department that deals with it doesn't seem to be able to deal with the sheer volume of calls as a result though, as it is a lengthy process each time to hurry the payment along.0 -
thanks will go into branch tomz & get it sorted & transfer money in branch all they need is ID Once that is done will be happy...better be save than sorry
Will try add nationwide card to barclays payee list in branch if no luck will leave them as don't wanna keep having problems every time i need to transfer money...

I had my TSB online access blocked and a Faster Payment from an ancient account got held up. This was the first time in several years that they decided to do this.
I called them immediately and it took almost an hour to go through all sorts of questions with their fraud department. Like rusty_f, I got asked lots of multiple-choice questions that they said they were checking against my Experian records. That's after they had already asked me for tons of other personal information, and information about the accounts I hold with TSB. It sounded to me as the operative was working through a script.
She eventually released the payment and at the end of the call and re-enabled my online banking. I then had to confirm in online banking that I want to make the payment. This seems to be the standard way the "LBG" system TSB uses works. I had a similar experience with Halifax a few months ago.
I think you could just wait for 24 hours if you don't want to sit through the phone call.
There is nothing to worry about, it's just a damned nuisance, and we probably can thank the criminals for having to endure these checks.0 -
thanks got told to go to branch (on phone call) so will do that on my lunch break (Hopefully not to long in there)
Should be fine once they know it's me... Just wanna put money in my nationwide flex direct account
hope i don't get blocked each time i wanna pay some money in....0
