Washer dryer recommendations?

As someone who has lived in flats for years I feel your pain.
If you must go for a washer-dryer I would recommend a good brand like Bosch, but if it's at all possible, I'd get separates. My condenser dryer actually lives in a large cupboard in my flat, and seems fine in there

Over the last 34 years only ever had washer/dryers, I'm now on my 3rd, which is a Samsung ecobubble washer/dryer and I love it (even my husband can use it!!!). It is totally programmable, wash type/length, spin speed, and plenty of drying options. It was not a cheap machine but has a good length guarantee with it. As I've always had washer/dryers I haven't noticed a lot of difference in running costs, although whenever possible I peg outside. Good luck with your choice.0

Another vote for a Samsung washer/dryer here! While separate machines are preferable for efficiency, I have also been in the situation where it's just not practical. The Samsung we had was a little pricey but it worked really well. Make sure you check the dimensions of your washer space though as they are a little bigger than the average.0

Seems to be UK thing having a single undercounter space for a washer.
The better option where space is limited is a cupboard with space for stacking both if you go full hieght you can have shelves above for storing stuff.0 -
If you are thinking of buying a Hotpoint Washer Dryer, there is currently an offer through MSE whereby they are offering 35% off selected models. Might be worth checking it out0

I don't want to diss your suggestion, but I've heard people speak about Hotpoint machines in not very glowing terms. Are they made by Indesit now?left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

We have had a Bosch Exxcel washer dryer for 3.5 years. It washes really well and has a variety of cycles and also a delay timer.
It doesn't have a big drum though, I can fit a kingsize duvet cover, fitted sheet and 6 pillow cases in 1 load comfortably. 2 bath sheets take 1.5-2 hours to dry.
I do at least 2 loads of washing per day and probably use the dryer 5 times a week.0 -
Don't know what it's like now but there was a washing machine engineer that ran a website with lots of help and advice.
http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/washing-machines-category/
It's changed and is now more 'sponsored' but might be worth a read through.
I've got a 8 year old machine bought on advice from this site and (I hate to say this because it will explode tomorrow) not one problem so far.
Lots of brands are made by the same manufacturer and sometimes you end up getting the same machine but paying more for a 'better' name.
No doubt that two machines is a lot easier, but you have to have the space0 -
Thank you all.
When I picked up my son up from nursery yesterday, they asked if I could pack 2 spare changes of clothes a day :-O
So in the winter a dryer will be a necessity now.
Going to have a look at the weekend0 -
If you are definitely going to get one, go for the biggest drum size you can, that would at least help to minimise wrinkling!0
