OMG - I am consumed with envy :rotfl: and very impressed with the level of organisation re meals and train.

Which one did you go for and did you book on Monday morning?

Sadly I could not pin OH down otherwise we would have been in Edinburgh as well

I saw Mercure on Princess street was on the list and also Ibis on South Bridge - I think we could have got 2 nights there - looks nice and bright and modern.

Novohotel was not on the list but looking on the map its a bit further out anyway. There was also Mercure Edinburgh Quay but it looks closer to the other station.

I was out of bed very early Monday checking the lists. I was hoping for 2 nights in York but I could not get Saturday. We would have been quite happy with Mercure just outside the ring road opposite the park and ride but really wanted Novohotel so we could go up on the train.
Mind you its a good thing we didn't get booked as I've now got a Saturday appointment.

just have to try again next week :)

Breakfast - if you have the Bella Italia email there is a voucher you can download and print off which gives you buy one get one free breakfast - around £5

or you could download the Greggs app - use a yopmail address, new members get a free breakfast - useful for the train.

we had late afternoon drinks in the Calley bar - very posh hotel, OH had half a larger and I had lime and soda and the bill was not too horrendous.

otherwise there are a few Weatherspoon type places for drinks which are still good

Ill mail you which one I went for. I booked on Tuesday out of curiosity.

I just spotted the rail vouchers when I was ordering Bella Italia vouchers. And I had some stray loyalty points from when they used to be really generous to us. Was hoping to use some for tea and the rest at breakfast time. Not sure if you can use them for breakfast trying to check their terms and conditions.

Just joined sainsbury online shopping, got £18 off my shop so thats some wee fizz to add to the trip. I know where wetherspoons and that is. So will probably pop in there.

And you inspired me Mhoc so thanks again xx:A

I ordered and have just received 3 shower gel baubles from mouton brown:)
I cant remember the offer but I wouldn't have liked to pay full price for them.:(
..but they are lovely, small but ideal for tree/table pressie at xmas, and the package and box are quality and can be reused especially if you can pick up some really cheap moulton brown

Good morning everyone, dry here now but will hang on before I put the washing out.

    That looks sooooooo good!

    Must avoid, must avoid.

Looking at a possible cruise at the moment, really do not need to eat more before that if we go

Have a good time MKS, you deserve to enjoy yourself :D

Hope the little girl's op goes as well as it can Sarah. Don't forget, your friend may well need someone to talk to.
We do have a particular cruise in mind, doesn't involve any flying, ports include the canaries, but not putting any more information on here because there's one or two people I would rather not have know when I am away :(
Was going to ask, then saw your other post. Fair enough :)

all good, our next one is a Canaries so I've started doing my port research

at the mo its 32 degrees so you need to go prepared for the heat. I am hoping it will be back to the normal 26 degrees when we eventually go which is my perfect temperature.

we have 3 sea days to start with which is going to be a test in itself, forcing yourself to slow down and relax and not going racing around the ship and cramming as many activities in as you would do in a normal week. and being cut off from wi fi.
the last time we went in this direction the weather stopped us getting into Madeira so we are being stoical about the possibility of this happening again this time.
OH has put the entire series of Henning Mankell Wallender books on the ipad in readiness.
4 sea days - well at least we would have a taste of what a transatlantic would be like.

its going to be very weird, washing and pressing and folding the summer clothes and boxing them away and then getting them all out again a few weeks later :D

2 weeks and 2 days until I set off :j:j:j:j:j

Nice to see you BB. Hope you are well. My MB stuff came today. I got the cracker set too and it's lovely for a gift. I also got a bauble. My main problem will be parting with it as a gift, as I'm really tempted to put it in my stash :rotfl::rotfl:
